|Location||near the town of Sosnovy Bor, the Leningrad region|
|Type of reactor||VVER-1200|
|Number of Power Units||2|
|General Designer||JSC ATOMPROEKT|
The Unit is constructed at the Leningrad NPP site In February 2007 the General Board of State Expert review approved the design of the NPP to be constructed. Rostechnadzor issued licenses for construction of Leningrad NPP-2 in June 2008 and July 2009. The design of LNPP-2 with water-cooled reactors of 1200 MW each corresponds to all modern international safety requirements: The design provides for four active independent safety systems alternating each other and a complex of passive safety systems the operation of which does not depend on human factors. Safety systems include core localization device (core catcher), passive heat removal system (PHRS) from reactor containment and passive heat removal system from steam generators. Design lifetime of civil structures is 60 years.
