Paks-II has received permission for commencements of soil stabilization works and construction of warehouses

On June 10, 2022, Hungarian Atomic Energy Authority (OAH) issued a license for Paks-II project for commencement of soil stabilization works at the NPP construction site. The purpose of the works is to ensure proper load-bearing capacity of the soils in the foundations of the future buildings and facilities of the NPP.

Soil stabilization, together with the construction of the groundwater cut-off (the license for which was issued on May 26, 2022) that insulates the area of the pit of the NPP under construction from ground water and protects the operating Paks power units, is required for transfer to the power units construction stage .

Besides the soil stabilization license, a permit for construction of three warehouses and two storage areas was obtained on June 10, 2022.

Currently, the facilities of the civil and erection base are under construction, in total 120 buildings and facilities including workshops, warehouses, parking areas and roads.

Paks-II NPP project is being implemented on the basis of Russian-Hungarian Intergovernmental Agreement dated January 14, 2014 and three basic contracts dated December 09, 2014 for the construction of the new NPP. Paks-II NPP will be built on a turn-key basis. The guaranteed lifetime of the power unit is 60 years. The general contractor is Rosatom State Corporation Engineering Division.
