Knowledge Day launched the first academic year in the Atomic Class established with the support of Rosatom

Academic year began in the specialized Atomic Class that has been recently established in Nizhny Novgorod Lyceum No 40, with the support of Rosatom State Corporation.
The first interactive lesson for senior pupils was given by Nikolay Podorov, Senior Vice President for Corporate Functions of ASE JSC. The lesson was held in the Information Center for Atomic Energy of Nizhny Novgorod. Nikolay Podorov spoke about the main areas of activities, the geography of projects, the cultural and social initiatives of Rosatom State Corporation. At the first lesson, the tenth-grade pupils learned about the possibilities and the jobs in the atomic industry that are in high demand, the universities where the knowledge and skills required to be employed by Rosatom in the future, can be acquired.
The academic program of the Atomic Class includes two years (the tenth and the eleventh grades), it envisages courses in physics, mathematics, natural sciences and technology, development of the pupil’s motivation for scientific, research and design activities. The teaching process will involve, besides the teachers of the lyceum, specialists and scientists from ASE JSC (Rosatom State Corporation Engineering Division), Nizhny Novgorod State Technical University, Institute of Applied Physics of the Russian Academy of Sciences, many of which are graduates of lyceum No 40. A number of excursions to atomic energy enterprises in Nizhny Novgorod region are planned for the pupils of the Atomic Class.
“The training program envisages familiarization with the activities of Rosatom division and visits to atomic industry enterprises which will make it possible to get an insight into the specific features of the work of these enterprises”, said Nikolay Podorov, Senior Vice President for Corporate Functions of ASE JSC. Special knowledge and a “face-to-face” contact with Rosatom will be a good basis for the future profession selection”.
The educational project is being implemented jointly with Rosatom State Corporation, Nizhny Novgorod State Technical University named after R.E. Alexeev and Federal Research Center “Institute of Applied Physics of the Russian Academy of Sciences”.

Lyceum no 40 (www.lyceum40nn.ru ) was founded in September 1961. From 1990, it has the status of Nizhny Novgorod physical and mathematical lyceum school No 40 with intensified instruction in physics, mathematics and information technologies. The pupils of the lyceum are traditionally the winners of annual contests of various levels, including international contests.
Currently, lyceum No 40 is developing effective cooperation with University named after N.I. Lobachevsky and Federal Research Center “Institute of Applied Physics of the Russian Academy of Sciences”.
