Atomstroyexport JSC has performed testing of the primary circuit equipment of Bushehr NPP under the pressure of 180 kg/cm2

15.01.2010
Atomstroyexport JSC (ASE JSC) has successfully completed the next key stage of hydraulic testing of primary circuit equipment of Bushehr NPP (the Islamic Republic of Iran) with pressure buildup to 180 kg/cm2. The 180-kg/cm2 pressure is the NPP working pressure.
In the near future it is planned to buildup pressure in the NPP primary circuit engineering systems to 250 kg/cm2, which is practically 40% higher than the plant’s working pressure. Pressure buildup to 250 kg/cm2 enables to test the equipment for safe operation and substantiate the margin of strength and density. Safety issues during the nuclear facility erection always remain paramount ones; that is why hydraulic testing and circular equipment flushing before power units’ startup are carried out scrupulously and with adherence to all the necessary requirements.
The construction of Bushehr NPP has at present passed into its final stage with about 3 600 people employed in the site works. That comprises about 2 500 people sent from the Russian Federation: specialists of Atomstroyexport JSC, as well as representatives of design institute, heat and electric equipment mounting organizations and about 1 100 people of Iranian personnel.
Reference:Atomstroyexport JSC (ASE JSC) is carrying out turnkey erection of Unit 1 of Bushehr NPP with installed electric capacity of 1000 МW. The construction of Bushehr NPP was started in 1974 by the German concern Kraftwerk Union A.G. (Siemens/KWU). In 1980 the concern terminated the contract with the Iranian customer due to the decision of the German government to join the US embargo on the supply of equipment to Iran. Bushehr NPP is a unique facility, which has no parallel in the world. Atomstroyexport JSC and its contractors managed to realize integration of the Russian equipment into the building part realized under the German design and use about 12 thousand tons of the German equipment. Great work on the evaluation of the state and suitability of the equipment, buildings and structures was carried out. The designers had to develop and use a whole number of original engineering ideas and know-how with the purpose of adjustment of the Russian technologies to the capacities already existing at the site. The erection of Bushehr NPP is at every stage performed exclusively under the IAEA control. The plant erection totally conforms to the effective international rules, legislation and non-proliferation regime.
