JSC «Atomstroyexport” is carrying out hydraulic tests of the equipment of “Bushehr” NPP primary circuit

15.01.2010
President of JSC «Atomstroyexport» (JSC ASE), Dan Belenkiy, has visited “Bushehr” NPP with a working visit (Islamic Republic of Iran), where the completion phase of commissioning is being carried out. At present time hydraulic tests of the NPP primary circuit equipment is the key action on the completion phase of the nuclear power plant construction. Their main goal is testing of the primary circuit equipment.
Currently 35 kg/cm2 pressure testing of the primary circuit equipment has been successfully carried out. In further stages of hydraulic tests the gradual pressure rise will be carried out: at first - up to 100 kg/cm2, at the second stage of the tests – up to 180 kg/cm2. Next week it is planned to get the maximum pressure up to 250 kg/cm2 – after obtaining the positive resolution from the regulatory bodied of Iran.
As it was informed by Dan Belenkiy, the key activities on commissioning the plant are being carried out successfully, in compliance with the time schedule agreed with the customer. The Certificates on completion of the installation work at the NPP have been signed. The set of the documents for obtaining the authorization to carry out 250 kg/cm2 pressure tests in the primary circuit has been submitted to the NNSD (Nuclear Safety Supervision Department of Iran).
“Implementing the project that is not simply complex from the technical point of view, but a unique one for the world NPP construction practice, we, together with the Iranian collegues, aspire to reach an optimum balance between the time schedule and work quality, and that is reflected in the construction time schedule agreed with the customer”, Dan Belenkiy observed. “The safety issues at construction of nuclear facilities always remain paramount. Therefore the hydraulic tests and circulation flushing of the equipment prior to putting the power units in operation will be carefully carried out following all necessary requirements”.
Currently around 3600 persons are engaged in the works at “Bushehr” NPP site. They include about 2500 persons deputed from the Russian Federation: experts of JSC “Atomstroyexport”, as well as the representatives of the design institute, thermal and electric equipment erection organizations. About 1100 persons is the Iranian personnel.
Reference:JSC «Atomstroyexport» (JSC ASE) is carrying out “turnkey” construction of the 1-rst Unit of “Bushehr” NPP with the installed electric power of 1000 MW. The construction of “Bushehr” NPP began in 1974 by German Concern “Kraftwerk Union A.G.” (Siemens/KWU). In 1980 the Concern broke the contract with the Iranian customer by reason of the resolution of the German government to join the American embargo for the deliveries of the equipment to Iran. “Bushehr” NPP is a unique project, there are no analogues to it in the world. JSC «Atomstroyexport» and its contractors have managed to put into effect the integration of the Russian equipment into the construction part implemented as per the German design and use about 12 thousand tons of the German equipment. Great amount of work on the estimation of state and serviceability of the equipment, buildings and constructions has been carried out. The designers had to develop and apply a variety of the individual technical ideas and know-how for adjustment of the Russian technologies to the capacities that are already available at the site. At all stages “Bushehr” NPP construction is being carried out solely under control of IAEA. The construction of the plant conforms completely to the existing international standards, legislation, non-proliferation regime. At present time “Bushehr” NPP construction has passed to the completion stage.
