Atomstroyexport Joint-Stock Company has taken part in the First International Exhibition and Forum “INDIA NUCLEAR ENERGY 2009”

In Mumbai (India) the 1st International Exhibition and Forum “INDIA NUCLEAR ENERGY 2009” took place. They were organized under support of the Ministry of Energy and the Department of Atomic Energy, Republic of India. The Exhibition and Forum drew major attention of the companies-suppliers of equipment and services in the Indian nuclear power market. More than 50 companies from India, Russia and other countries of the world were represented at the exposition “INDIA NUCLEAR ENERGY 2009”. Atomstroyexport Joint-Stock Company (ASE JSC), which is constructing Kudankulam NPP in Tamil Nadu State (India), participated in the Exhibition as a part of the common exposition of Rosatom State Corporation.
The Exhibition was opened by Faruk Abdulla, the Minister of Energy, who, after the solemn ceremony, visited Atomstroyexport JSC booth and noted the positive dynamics of cooperation with Russia in nuclear engineering. Atomstroyexport JSC booth was visited also by representatives of the Department of Atomic Energy, Republic of India; Nuclear Power Corporation of India; other Indian and foreign companies. The foreign representatives were interested in the results of Atomstroyexport JSC activity, possibility of cooperation in NPP projects construction in India and other countries of the world, and also in advantages of the Russian designs.
The Forum “Nuclear Energy of India – Prospects up to 2050” took place within the framework of the Exhibition, attended by Atomstroyexport JSC representatives. Anil Kakodkar, the Chairman of the Atomic Energy Commission of India, spoke at the Forum. His report confirmed aspiration of India to continue active development of nuclear engineering of the country, expansion of possible participation of the Indian companies in construction of nuclear power plants. Anil Kakodkar emphasized, that successful experience of the bilateral Russian-Indian cooperation had been gained during construction of Kudankulam NPP first phase, and there is a necessity of NPP expansion by adding 4 power units more, and also construction of new NPPs on other sites in India.
Participation in the First International Exhibition and Forum “INDIA NUCLEAR ENERGY 2009” allowed to expand even more the international contacts of Atomstroyexport JSC, being one of the largest companies in the world, constructing nuclear power plants abroad.
Reference. Atomstroyexport JSC (ASE JSC) is performing the works on construction of Kudankulam NPP in India under the Intergovermental Agreement. According to the signed contracts the scope of Atomstroyexport JSC obligations includes development of the Technical Design and the Detailed Design Documentation, Designer’s Supervision of construction of the NPP buildings and structures within the design scope, supply of equipment and materials from Russia and third countries, technical support during installation and NPP commissioning, training of operation and maintenance personnel in Russia. Civil, erection and pre-commissioning works on the NPP site, and also putting the plant in operation are carried out by the Indian side.
