A Joint Russian-Vietnam Coordination Committee on cooperation in the field of nuclear power engineering was held

On June 18 a Joint Russian-Vietnam Coordination Committee on cooperation in the field of nuclear power engineering was held in Hanoi. Representatives of the State Corporation “Rosatom”, JSC “Atomstroyexport”, OJSC “Concern Energoatom” took part in its work from the Russian side. In the course of the Committee work the Russian side confirmed its interest to render assistance to Vietnam in creation and development of necessary infrastructure of the nuclear field. Taking into account the first-priority tasks of Vietnam in the nuclear power engineering field, there were stated particular proposals for the development of working contacts of Russian enterprises with specialized organizations of Vietnam. Within the framework of the Coordination Committee on June 17 there was held a seminar dedicated to personnel training for nuclear power engineering of Vietnam. Representatives of SC “Rosatom”, JSC “Atomstroyexport” and OJSC “Concern Energoatom” made the reports on the potential of the Russian nuclear power engineering in the field of foreign personnel training for NPP. It was pointed out that Russia possesses the necessary higher education institution base and specialized training centers, as well as a great experience in the preparation of foreign personnel for the facilities of the world nuclear power engineering. There were discussed particular directions of Russian-Vietnam cooperation in the personnel training for the Vietnam national program of the nuclear power engineering. Reference. In the beginning of 2006 the Government of Vietnam adopted a strategy of the nuclear power engineering development up to 2020, envisaging the construction of nuclear generating capacities. The first power unit commissioning is planned in 2020.
