In incorporated company JSC NIAEP – JSC Atomstroyexport technical issues on the second stage construction of Tianwan NPP in China have been negotiated.

Incorporated company JSC NIAEP – JSC Atomstroyexport and JNPC (Jiangsu nuclear power corporation, PRC) held a technical meeting during which the works progress of the construction project of power units 3 and 4 of Tianwan NPP in China was discussed. The meeting was held in the mode of a videoconference having connected Moscow, where the incorporated company’s office is located, and Lianyungang, near which TNPS construction is in process.The Chinese and the Russian parties considered the schedule of comments presentation to the questions of the National Nuclear Safety Administration of China (NNSA), within the scope of the Russian party’s obligations specified in the General Contract for construction of TNPS power units 3 and 4, on technical assistance with the purpose to obtain NNSA permission for construction of these power units.- During the meeting the parties mentioned the critical importance of timely obtaining of NNSA permit, because it has a direct impact on meeting the date of such a milestone event as the “First concrete to the nuclear island foundation of TNPS power unit 3” and compliance with the construction schedule of the second stage of the plant – head of division on Tianwan NPP construction of Moscow branch of JSC NIAEP, Alexey Bannik, informed.The Chinese and the Russian parties expressed their mutual intention to take all possible measures for joint solution to the questions and providing NNSA permit for TNPS units 3 and 4 construction within the established by the parties time limit. Concrete casting of the reactor building foundation slab of power unit 3 is planned to be implemented by the end of 2012.

Reference:TNPS – the largest object of economic cooperation between PRC and the RF. Construction of TNPS units 1 and 2 was performed by JSC Atomstroyexport in compliance with the Russian-Chinese Intergovernmental Agreement signed in 1992. In 2007 the first stage of TNPS – power units 1 and 2 (with power capacity of 1060 MW each) were handed over to the Customer (JNPC corporation) and the plant was put into guarantee commission, which showed a safe and reliable operation. Signing of the General Contract for construction of Tianwan NPP second stage (power units 3 and 4 with the capacity of 1060 MW) between JSC Atomstroyexport and jointly performing JNPC, CNPE and CNEIC was held in November 23, 2010. In August 2011 China and Russia confirmed its coming into force.
