The Rostov NPP: Milestones of Units 3&4 Construction Scheduled on 2012 are Completed

This was announced on 29 th November during the meeting of the control panel charged for Units construction.
Alexander Hazin, JSC NIAEP Director of the Rostov NPP construction reported on the work process at the site. Besides, tentative work performance of this year was summarized and tasks were assigned ton December. “The main event of the month is end of polar crane testing, with the help of which steam generators will be delivered into the mounting area , - Alexander Hazin marked out.- We also get ready to start up construction works on the Unit 4. It is in our nearest plans to deliver there a crane KROLL of hoisting capacity 80 tons.”
It is scheduled on December to lay 120 km of cables in the main building rooms (reactor compartment, deaerator compartment, electrotechnical rack) lay over 100 tons of pipes in the reactor compartment Unit 3 and install over 300 tons of equipment, lay over 160 tons of pipes in the turbine island and install over 20 tons of equipment.
A subject plane for the year 2013 was presented during the meeting. As per the plane, in the next year on 21 facilities of start up complex of the Unit 3 must be completed construction and erection works.
Alexander Palamarchuk, Deputy General Director of JSC Concern Rosenergoatom- Director of Plants Construction Management branch, has participated in the meeting and pointed out: “We are moving in the right direction, we do not have visible risks that would impact on implementation of the plan for December and on the entire year program. Experience accumulated by the General Contractor during the construction and start-up of the Rostov NPP Unit 2 and the Kalinin NPP Unit 4 guarantees our success“.
“We have serious plans for 2013. We will have to perform the main milestone to prepare Unit 3 for a physical start-up and in conjunction with this, start construction works on Unit 4. The tasks are quite complicated but solvable”, - summed up Valery Limarenko, President of JSC NIAEP.

The Rostov NPP is a branch of JSC “Concern Rosenergoatom”. The Nuclear power plant is located on the bank of the Tsimlyansk dam lake within 13, 5 km from Volgodonsk. Two units of VVER-1000 reactor type of installed capacity 1000 MW are in operation; Unit 1 was commissioned in 2001, Unit2- in December 2010. Units 3&4 are under construction.
