The Rostov NPP: Active Preparations Started for Pre-Start Activities on Unit 3

Meeting of the construction control panel charged for Unit 3&4 construction was held on 1 st November 2012 on the Rostov NPP site.
Alexander Palamarchuk, Deputy General Director of JSC Concern Rosenergoatom , Director of Complex Engineering Facilities branch, authorities of the Rostov NPP and authorities of JSC NIAEP (General Contractor) headed by Director Valery Limarenko took part in the meeting .
Just on the eve of the meeting two major events took place on the site – service voltage supply and installation of a second tier of the reactor containment of Unit 3 to its proper location. Another significant event is forthcoming delivery of the fourth steam generator for Unit 3. As Alexander Hazin Director of JSC NIAEP branch in Volgodonsk reported after installation of a polar crane and its testing, installation of capital heavy equipment for the reactor compartment Unit 3 will be carried out.
Besides, heads of the main contracting organizations delivered their reports. They paid special attention to heat assembly and electrical assembly works.
“Installation of the reactor containment and service voltage supply is an indicator of a certain Unit readiness for full-scale pre-start activities” – summed up Valery Limarenko, Director of JSC NIAEP – executor of JSC ASE.
The Rostov NPP is a branch of JSC “Concern Rosenergoatom”. The Nuclear power plant is located on the bank of the Tsimlyansk water reservoir within 13, 5 km from Volgodonsk. Two units of reactor type VVER-1000 of installed capacity 1000MW are in operation; Unit 1 was commissioned in 2001, Unit2- in December 2010.
Units 3&4 are being constructed. General contractor is JSC Nizhniy Novgorod engineering company Atomenergoproekt (NIAEP, company site www.niaep.ru). The enterprise is within State Nuclear Energy Corporation Rosatom.
JSC Concern Rosenergoatom is customer-constructor “Capital construction management of the Rostov NPP”.
