The Rostov NPP: the August work performance summed up and Units 3&4 construction plans for September evolved

On 5 th September the control panel in charge for power units 3&4 construction met. Alexander Hazin , Construction Director- Director of the Volgodonsk branch of NIAEP, summed up the work performance.

A.B.Hazin underlined that the control events in August were completed at the site: erection of the coping blocks from elevation 55,60 to 61 ,57, setting of polar crane to its proper location, turbine generator foundation floor grouting at elevation 14,94 ( 1500 m 3 ), setting of working service supply transformers to their proper location, grouting of the evaporative cooling tower shell up to the 73 tier ( elevation 118,355 m ).

Nearly 4500 people worked in August at the Unit 3&4 sites, it is planned to increase the manpower to 5000 in September. Within the meeting the key tasks at Unit 3 for September were drawn up – auxiliaries voltage supply and schedule for pipelines laying in the main building till the end of the year. By 1 st , September 766,8 t of pipelines have been laid in the main building. Before the end of the year it is planned to lay 911 t of pipelines.

6 pilot projects of the Production System of Rosatom (PSR) are being implemented at the site: labour safety management system (LSMS); electronic document management; Multi-D –field engineering, procurement and cost management system from signing agreement to incoming control implementation; equipment, materials and documentation bar coding; and « Helping Chain » to deal with business issues.

The merged company JSC NIAEP – JSC Atomstroyexport (ASE) was established in March 2012 by the resolution of the State atomic energy corporation Rosatom. The Rostov NPP is a branch of JSC “Concern Rosenergoatom”. The Nuclear power plant is located on the bank of the Tsimlyansk water reservoir within 13,5 km from Volgodonsk. Two units of reactor type VVER-1000 of installed capacity 1000MW are in operation; Unit 1 was commissioned in 2001, Unit2- in December 2010.Units 3&4 are under construction. JSC NIAEP is the general contractor.
