Delegation of Foreign Specialists Visited the Rostov NPP Unit 3&4 site

18.06.2013
Approximately 50 representatives of the hugest energy companies from such countries as Great Britain, Hungary, Vietnam, Germany, Spain, India, Kazakhstan, China, Slovakia, Turkey, Ukraine, France, the Czech Republic, Sweden, the SAR and Japan visited the sites of the Rostov NPP Units under construction. This visit became possible as a part of the III International Research and Practice Multi-D Forum “Life cycle management of complex engineering facilities. Tools for operation support”.
The visit aim was to demonstrate to the delegates and to Forum guests how the technologies which are the subject of a two-day discussion on panel sessions and workshops are implemented on practice.
The guests got acquainted with the opportunities of visual modeling that enables to see a 3D model of all the Unit components and their technical characteristics. «Use of this technology significantly enhances the quality of design and arrangement and process solutions,- marked out Alexander Khazin, Director of Construction, commenting on importance of this technology.- The technology enables to come up with optimal solutions promptly and provides an opportunity for interaction for all construction participants and also allows to diminish the number of errors in schedules by binding construction processes with construction elements».
The guests also visited a pre-assembly site of metallic constructions for their further installation in proper places. Besides, the foreign specialists got acquainted with the work progress on the turbine hall of Unit 3 and with an account system of construction warehouse stocks.
«We have demonstrated to the guests the potential of our company with regard to creation of construction management system for complex engineering facilities,- said Valery Limarenko, President of JSC NIAEP, summing the visit results.- The Rostov NPP site explicitly shows the results of this work in this area. Precisely there the Multi-D technology is being implemented which is designated to manage vast amounts of information, including 3D data, data on resources and terms. This technology enables to optimize resources consumption even before the construction start by modelling all processes of NPP construction».

The Rotov NPP is the southern station of all the Russian NPPs. The Nuclear power plant is located on the bank of the Tsimlyansk water reservoir within 13, 5 km from Volgodonsk. Two units of reactor type VVER-1000 of installed capacity 1000MW are in operation; Unit 1 was commissioned in 2001, Unit2- on December 10, 2010.
Upon the whole, since its commissioning the Rostov NPP has generated almost 80 billion of kW/hour. The plant provides 40% of electricity generation in the Rostov region. The electricity generated on the NPP is shipped through five transmission lines- 500 into the Volgograd, Rostov, Krasnodar and Stavropol regions, and through two transmission lines -200 into Volgodonsk.
Currently, JSC NIAEP is constructing Units 3&4.
