The first day of the 3d International Research and Practice Forum Multi-D “Complex Facility Life-Cycle Management. Operation Support Tools” is over

13.06.2013
The 3d International Research and Practice Forum Multi-D “Complex Facility Life Cycle Management. Operation Support Tools” is taking place in Moscow on 13th -14th June 2013.
The merged company JSC NIAEP – JSC Atomstroyexport, an enterprise of the State Corporation Rosatom, is the main organizer of the event.
This forum has become a logical continuation of the two previous ones held in 2011 and 2012 in Nizhny Novgorod developing the concept of life cycle management of complex facilities – starting from the design of a future NPP and ending with its decommissioning. In 2011 focus was laid on development of one information space for designing, in 2012 it was development of one information space for construction and the main topic in 2013 is development of one information space for operation of complex facilities.
Opening the first day of the forum the president of JSC NIAEP – JSC ASE, Valery Limarenko said that the event had started the day before with the traditional visit to a construction site. A delegation of foreign experts and journalists visited the Rostov NPP-3&4 construction site and learned about the management system of that particular project. “It’s a good start for our two-day work”, said Valery Limarenko. He also pointed out that the media and experts’ interest in the forum was growing. According to the organizers over 500 specialists from 19 countries of the world and 28 media are attending the forum.
Deputy General Director of international business and development of the state corporation “Rosatom” Kiryl Komarov mentioned the relevance of the selected topic: “For many industries life cycle management is a usual thing. The nuclear industry is just learning to work following this logic, but it is more important for us than for other industries. It is expensive to build a nuclear power plant, however, afterwards it is cheap to operate the plant. It is important to find reasonable balance between these components. Today specialists in the field of NPP operation, construction and equipment production have gathered here. We hope that exchange of opinions will help us to find optimal solutions”.
Vladimir Asmolov, Vice- General Director of the company group Rosenergoatom, stressed that “To ensure cheap operation of nuclear plants it is necessary to make provisions in the design for those use properties which will allow the operator to successfully operate the facility. I am absolutely certain that the technologies developed in the Soviet Union and currently developing in Russia allow doing it. Started with “AES-2006” our projects continue developing in the VVER TOI and demonstrate that the use properties and safety features provided for in the design are very attractive. The VVER TOI project is implemented in an absolutely new information environment and contains new additional features characteristic of the VVER technology. The company group Rosenergoatom is the customer of this project. All the project life cycle from design to decommissioning is under our close attention. Many international organizations act as experts in this project”.
The central topic of the first day of the forum is the VVER TOI project. Specialists discussed its technical and economic features while the participants of the nuclear machine building fair held under the forum obtained information on the basic selection criteria for suppliers for the VVER TOI-based projects.
According to the Vice-President of JSC NIAEP project management, Alexander Polushkin, the VVER TOI project is a standard VVER technology-based project of NPP with optimized and informatized power unit of large capacity that can successfully compete on the world market. The project is implemented with modern software tools enabling to manage information during the entire life cycle of the power unit.
The VVER TOI design makes provisions for the safety systems using both active and passive operation principles. The technical solutions guarantee transition of the reactor into the safe condition under different combinations of initial events, natural and man-made, which cause loss all electric power supply sources. At present it was decided to apply this design for NPP Akkuyu in Turkey and for Kursk NPP-2.
The significant events of the first day of the Forum were that three memoranda of understanding and cooperation were signed between JSC NIAEP and DASSAULT Systemes, JSC NIAEP and Intergraph PP&М, and also between JSC NIAEP and JSC NEOLANT.
“We have done a big and serious job and we are finishing it today by signing the memorandum, - noted Valery Limarenko. – Our companies are developing together the complex facility life cycle management technology. DASSAULT Systemes and Intergraph PP&М produce advanced IT-tools, our company applies them in practice and JSC NEOLANT helps us with that. The cooperation is successful.A detailed program of the Forum is on sites www.multi-d-forum.ru/home/; www.niaep.ru
