Company NIAEP-ASE-AEP: Requirements Management System Successfully Applied for Paks NPP Project in Hungary

15.12.2014
An EPC contract for construction of units 5 and 6, Paks-II NPP (Hungary), was signed on December 9th 2014. During its preparation a requirements management system based on the modern information technologies was successfully applied.
When discussing NPP construction contracts the requirements management becomes a challenging task as there is a large range of equipment and materials representing thousands of items, there are various types of design, construction and pre-commissioning activities to be carried out during a number of years and there are also multiple requirements of international and local regulations related to nuclear power application oversight which should be met by both equipment and activities.
The requirements management system enabled to effectively organize work with the Customer when reviewing more than 13 000 requirements for the nuclear plant, the technologies to be used for its designing and construction and also for the overall project management.
“Our experience has shown that this system is effective at the pre-contract stage. We also believe that the use of the requirements management system at the next stages of the NPP construction life cycle will allow us to reduce risks and to improve the quality of fulfillment of requirements of the Customer and international regulatory bodies”, says vice-president, director of near-term projects of the merged company, Gennady Tepkyan.
The requirements management system is part of Multi-D® technology developed by the merged company.
