During two years specialists of the consulting company Lean Coaching Ltd will implement Lean technologies for the Belorussian NPP and Kursk NPP construction projects throughout the design, procurement and project management stages. This long-term project aims at support and development of Rosatom Production System (RPS) to improve performance and efficiency of the production processes through using the Lean principles of Toyota and coaching.
“We are interested in this project and we will do our best to ensure its successful implementation at all the stages, says Senior Vice-President – Director for Designing Yury Ivanov, when opening the meeting of the working group, – Great importance is given to lean production in the nuclear industry. Our goal is to identify and to eliminate wastes, to increase performance and efficiency of the business processes.
Customers want projects with reduced cost and time required for designing, increased performance and reduced number of changes at the construction and installation stage. Lean implementation in construction will enable us to avoid wastes in construction which occur due to problems in the designing processes, so that’s why it’s important to involve all our partners – AO Atomenergoproekt and AO Atomproekt - into this process. It’s also necessary to raise specialists who will implement these technologies at other nuclear enterprises.
Managing Director of Lean Coaching Ltd, Gert Haar-Jorgensen told the participants of the meeting about the operations of his company. The company opened its office in Russia 5 years ago.
He pointed out that the method consisted of three components – training, consulting and coaching, and underlined the extensive practical focus of the coaches of his company. The clients of Lean Coaching Ltd include such companies as Areva, Westinghouse, Sellafield, OAO Kamaz, OAO Tatneft, OOO UK Tatburneft etc.
The results of lean implementation will be identified for each stage of the project that will run in NIAEP – ASE till December 2016.
It should be reminded that NIAEP was selected as a pilot enterprise of Rosatom for lean implementation at the nuclear sector meeting concerning implementation of Rosatom Production System in the engineering and design activities in August 2014.
