At power unit No. 3 of Rostov NPP preparation started for testing the containment of the reactor compartment

16.07.2014
A meeting dedicated to the construction of Rostov NPP-3 and led by Valery Limarenko, president of the merged company JSC NIAEP – JSC ASE, was held on July 16th. The following issues were discussed at the meeting: readiness of the third power unit for testing of the containment, hot testing of equipment and preparation for the physical criticality program.
Andrey Salnikov, director of the power plant, characterized the current construction stage of the third power unit in the following way: “Now the busiest period begins and all the issues should be addressed without delay. Today the major construction priorities include the schedule and the quality”.
"The following conclusions can be made after the discussion: the current status at the site allows us to say safely that this year the third power unit can be connected to the grid. No doubt that for that a lot of work should be done at the coming stages. It primarily concerns the facilities of the off-site infrastructure which should be made ready for the commissioning. It will require significant efforts of those who work at the site, but I’m sure that we will manage it and complete the project on schedule",- says Valery Limarenko, president of the merged company JSC NIAEP – JSC ASE.
Construction of the third power unit of Rostov NPP is going as scheduled; at present, the cold tests are underway on the site.
