The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Hungary and JSC Atomproekt Design Institute of St-Petersburg (as part of ASE Group of companies) held a workshop for Hungarian companies to discuss a possible cooperation in the area of designing of 2 new power units for Paks-2 NPP. The event took place on June 8, 2017 in Budapest.

Alexander Kazarin, Director of JSC Atomproekt, pointed out that the 2 VVER-1200 power units under construction are classified as the latest Gen3+ type. Their main feature is the unique combination of active and passive safety systems that reduce considerably the impact of human factor, can withstand the most severe accidents and prevent radioactive release into the environment.

The design meets the up-to-date post-Fukushima safety requirements, IAEA recommendations and European Utility Requirements (EUR).

Alexander Kazarin pointed out that the Russian party expects Hungarian companies to take active part in designing of the future NPP.

Both the Hungarian and and other European organizations can participate in designing of auxiliary buildings, structures, systems using the equipment purchased abroad; or they can participate in adaptation of the design documentation, in the engineering survey works or provision of the consulting services, the JSC Atomproekt Director pointed out.

The procurement is to be implemented in an open and transparent way totally in line with the European Union standards, A.Kazarin emphasized. Bids can be equally put in by all stakeholders. The procurement information will be posted at the global specialized sites.
