The specialists have been completed the works on concreting of the foundation slab on the first power unit of Rooppur NPP.
The nuclear power plant, the first one in the People’s Republic of Bangladesh (PRB), is being constructed using the sources of the Rosatom State Corporation Engineering Division. JSC Atomenergoproekt acts as a general designer; JSC Atomstroyexport is a general contractor.
Shawkat Akbar, Director of the Project on behalf of the RPB, confirmed that the concreting of the foundation slab of power unit No. 1 had been completed successfully and similar works on the second power unit would start soon.
Alexander Khazin, JSC ASE EC Senior Vice-president, in his turn, emphasized that “the works are performed according to the schedule and the following important stage will be the construction of the reactor compartment contour walls.”
Moreover, Shawkat Akbar, Director of the Project, pointed out that the agreement on training of Bangladesh representatives in India to perform further work in NPP was reached because of the Memorandum of trilateral cooperation in the implementation of the Rooppur NPP construction project signed between Russia, Bangladesh and India. Soon, 50 young specialists from the PRB will be sent to India for training.
For reference. Rooppur NPP with two VVER-1200 reactors having a total capacity of 2400 MW is being constructed based on the Russian design 160 km away from Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh, in accordance with the general contract dated December 25, 2015. Russian design with VVER-1200 reactors has been selected for the first NPP in Bangladesh. General contractor of the Rooppur NPP construction is JSC Atomstroyexport (ASE Group of companies - Engineering Division of Rosatom).
