The graduates have got the master’s degree in a tailored dual- degree educational programme, namely "Physics and economics of nuclear power technologies". The programme has been jointly developed and launched under the initiative of the Rosatom State Corporation Director General by NRNU MEPhI and the Russian Foreign Trade Academy of the RF Ministry for Economic Development.

The programme aims mainly to train top engineering personnel for Rosatom, focused on the implementation of foreign economic projects. The programme combines both natural science and engineering subjects focused on the fundamental economic disciplines and applied foreign economic curricula, combined with the advanced curriculum in business English with special emphasis on foreign trade topics.

“This year, the submitted MSc degree papers and the defense itself have been at their best, despite the exacting commission,” said Konstantin Fokin, chief expert of the ASE JSC Center for Employee Career, Review and Development, who took part inthe commission's proceedings related to the defense of the final qualifying papers. - "All the students have received well-deserved “excellent" grades, but on top of that, the entire training programme for "upmarket" nuclear international specialists can be definitely given a straight A."

Over the 2021-2022 academic year, more than half of the programme students have completed their internships in the Engineering Division organizations and developed their projects, such as: "Russian export of services in the NPP design and construction", "Specific character of pricing in the NPP high-tech equipment market" and others. Based on the results of the internship and the defense of the graduation papers, one graduate of the programme has already been employed in the Engineering Division, and three more have got job offers.

For reference:

The programme has been implemented since 2018 and opts for simultaneous training in two higher education institutions, namely in NRNU MEPhI and the Russian Foreign Trade Academy. A prerequisite for the study is enrollment in two master's degree programmes, namely in the MEPhI "Physics and economics of nuclear power plants" programme and the "Foreign economic operations in the area of high technology” programme offered by the Russian Foreign Trade Academy.

The study is free of charge, applicants can qualify for a government scholarship in MEPhI, while in the Russian Foreign Trade Academy, they can win scholarships funded through grants from the Rosatom State Corporation. Applicants are enrolled by the results of the entrance examinations. In total, 50 graduates have completed their special training over the entire period of the training programme.
