The results of the second stage of BIM-management international educational projects (information/digital modeling) were assessed in Nizhny Novgorod. The project was implemented by Rosatom State Corporation Engineering Division.

More than1000 trainees from over 30 countries, including students of specialized Rosatom universities, employees of the nuclear industry and representatives of civil engineering, design and other companies participated in the project.

In the course of the six-month free training course, the participants enhanced their professional competences in the areas of BIM technologies, team-working and meeting deadlines when completing BIM projects. This year the trainees designed new types of facilities, e.g. bridges, learned to use new design tools and worked in common data medium.

“Such projects are extremely important as they not only unite cities and countries but make it possible to preserve the historical appearance of buildings and help to plan urban development in the future. As for the trainees, they will acquire, free of charge, skills of work with modern tools, in up-to-date environment using new methods of digital modeling, which will definitely enhance their competitive abilities on the labor market and their professional status”, said Alexey Agafonov, Head of Rosatom State Corporation “Engineering Design” Industry competence center.

In the course of training, 478 digital models of buildings in Nizhny Novgorod and Ekaterinburg were created. All the trainees who completed the course will receive skills upgrade certificates. The best teams became winners and awardees in 8 nominations established by the organizers of the program: “The best building in Renga”, “The best building in Archicad”, “The best project in Pilot-BIM”, “Our concerns”, “The best visualization in Lumion”, “The best team”, “the best company”, “The best universities”.

“Cooperation between Rosatom and Nizhny Novgorod authorities made it possible to make a breakthrough in the establishment of information networks of volumetric representations of the areas and buildings of Nizhny Novgorod.   In urban planning, we make active use of building models donated to us by the trainees of the first stage that was timed to the 800th anniversary of the city.   In the future, we are willing to create a digital model of the famous All-Russian Industrial and Art Exhibition of 1896. I hope that BIM-management project will help us do it”, - said Marina Rakova, Minister of Construction and Development of Agglomerations of Nizhny Novgorod.

BIM-management project is being implemented by Rosatom State Corporation Engineering Division jointly with Vysotsky Consulting Company, Nizhny Novgorod State Construction University and the Nizhny Novgorod “Russian Students’ Team” Regional Division supported by the Nizhny Novgorod Regional Ministry of Construction and Development of Agglomerations, Renga Software, Ascon, Autodesk, Lumion, CSoft, Graphisoft, Hexagon, Trimetari consulting, MOLT Geo.

Over 2800 trainees from 40 countries underwent education during the two stages of the project. Upon the results of the first stage of the program timed to the 800th anniversary of the city, over 1300 buildings and facilities with the total area of 5 million km2 were modeled, among them over 800 digital copies of historical buildings of Nizhny Novgorod.
