In spite of complicated radiation conditions, works are carried out in a quality manner with a high safety level for the personnel. Work Takeover Certificate was signed on August 12, 2008.
The Certificate was handed over to Mr. Vitaly Dragunov, representative of Atomstroyexport JSC, head of Consortium Project Management Group in Ukraine, who had also received an official certificate “for extraordinary contribution to provision of the works safety under projects of the Plan for measure implementation at “Shelter” facility”.
Repair of a lightweight roof consisted in implementation of a new coating of a shaped decking on the roof with an area of about 420 m2 over a central hall of power unit No. 4 destroyed by the beyond design basis accident in 1986. A new coating was placed on the top of the coating available in places, where there are corrosion traces. A device for water removal from a lightweight roof to northern rabble shields was also implemented.
Works were performed at the height of 60 meters, materials were delivered by “Pioner” crane with a subsequent manual carrying for the distance of up to 80 meters.
At present the Consortium is finishing demobilization of workers, and it proceeded to the guarantee period servicing.
On the 14th of August 2008 the Working Commission for checking the availability of the construction finished facility to be presented to the State commission on facility acceptance in operation began its activity at ChNPP under the chairmanship of Mr. Igor Gramotkin, Director General of GSP “Chernobyl NPP”.
Heads of the Project Management Group and foreign observers used to point out repeatedly a high level of professionalism with which Atomstroyexport JSC carries out works at “Shelter” facility. But the main achievement of the consortium is that even the most complicated works are implemented without a risk to personnel health. Human safety is ranked first. It is provided by a whole complex of specially developed measures and rules that are strictly complied with at the facility.
