Tianwan NPS Unit 2 scheduled maintenance successfully completed

The operation of Tianwan NPS Unit 2 again started on 6th July, 2008. The Unit was connected to the grid after the scheduled maintenance outage which took place in the guarantee period of operation under the technical support of specialists of Atomstroyexport JSC and Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC.
During the outage of Unit 2 which continued for 66 days as scheduled the Chinese and Russian specialists performed the testing of reactor plant main equipment metal (reactor pressure vessel, primary circulation pipelines, steam generator heat exchange tubes) and inspection of the main coolant pumps, turbine, generator, condenser, high pressure heaters and other equipment of Unit 2. Refueling was also carried out during the outage.
The scheduled maintenance of Tianwan NPS Unit 1 together with the refueling was successfully completed under the technical support of Russian specialists at the beginning of March, 2008.
The first stage of Tianwan NPS provided Jiangsu province with electric power of 16102512,5 MW (Unit 1 generated 9 267 723,4 MW, Unit 2 generated 6 834 789,1 MW).
Reference. The General Contract for the construction of Tianwan NPS was signed with Jiangsu Nuclear Power Corporation on 29th December, 1997 . The NPS first stage includes two power units with VVER-1000 reactor plants of 1000 MW electric power each.
Atomstroyexport JSC acted as the General Contractor and the Supplier. The acceptance of Unit 1 by the Chinese Customer took place on June 2, 2007, of Unit 2 – on September 12, 2007. More than 150 Russian enterprises and organizations were involved in the works.
To date Atomstroyexport is the only company having a real reference NPP project of the new generation. Tianwan NPS is regarded by experts as one of the most reliable NPPs in the world.
On 6th November, 2007 the Principal Agreement on Cooperation in the Construction of Two Units of TNPS Extension Project was signed in Moscow in the presence of the government executives of PRC and Russia. Currently Atomstroyexport JSC and JNPS are in process of coordination of new contract terms and conditions.
