On the 18th of January 2008 Atomstroyexport and National electric company (NEC) of Bulgaria signed the Contract Agreement for construction of Belene NPP.

The President of ASE JSC Sergey Shmatko signed the Contract Agreement on the part of Atomstroyexport JSC and the main Executive director Lubomir Velkov and executive director of NEC Mardik Papazan signed on the part of Bulgarian party. The Contract Agreement was signed in the presence of the Russian President Vladimir Putin and the Bulgarian President Georgi Parvanov in armorial hall of the Presidential palace.
The Contract Agreement represents a basic document specifying the main conditions of “Belene” NPP project and liabilities implementation. According to it, Atomstroyexport executes turn-key project and provides engineering, supply and construction of Belene NPP.
The Contract Agreement defines the value of project, which equals to 3,997,260,000 Euro for 2 units with capacity 1,000 MW each. As agreed by the parties, “Atomstroyexport” will use the existing buildings and structures at Belene NPP site to the maximum in order to integrate into the project.
Equipment, which is not subject to use on the project based on the evaluation of an estimating committee established in 2007, has to be purchased by Atomstroyexport.
