On April 25th and 26, 2008 in Mumbai the 20-th session of the Joint Coordination Committee (JCC) on Kudankulam NPP construction took place

The session was attended by the co-chairman of JCC from the Russian party, I.M. Kamenskih, the Deputy director General of the State Corporation “Rosatom”, the Deputy Director of OAO “Atomenergoprom”, S.I. Shmatko, the President of Atomstroyexport JSC, and also by the experts of Atomstroyexport company, including those working on the NPP site, and representatives of the general designer of Kudankulam NPP – Moscow Institute “Atomenergoproject". From the Indian side the session was attended by Dr. S.K. Jain, the Chairman and Managing Director of the Nuclear Power Corporation of India, V.P. Radzha, the main adviser of the Department of Atomic Energy of India, and a number of the Indian experts. S.I. Shmatko noted, that the period passed from the date of the 19-th JCC was filled with the concentrated activities of both sides directed on realization of the contemplated plans. In particular, the 39-th and 40-th vessel lots with the equipment and materials were formed and shipped to India, thus considerably expanding the available opportunities for installation of the equipment. The proposals aimed at further intensification of the NPP construction activities were raised and discussed with the Indian side. During the session after careful analysis of the work progress at Kudankulam NPP the nearest steps on realization of the project were planned: activation of the erection and commissioning works by the Indian side on all objects under construction on the NPP site and provision of the remained deliveries of the equipment and materials by the Russian side according to progress of the erection activities. The Protocol and a number of the documents were prepared on the basis of the results of the session oriented on successful performance of Kudankulam NPP construction project. Similar sessions are carried out once in a year quarter, and that helps to solve in due time the questions arising from both sides during the process of NPP construction.
