Possibilities of Russian export for Belorussian nuclear-power engineering

On 12th of February 2008 International trade show “Nuclear power – 2008” was opened in Minsk. The trade show is conducted by Belorussian industrial business and trade association with support of concerned state organizations expecting implementation of plans on construction of NPP on the territory of Belorussia. On the trade show over 50 industry organizations were presented as members of Rosatom exposition including leading Russian scientific institutes, leading concern Rosenergoatom, which operates all national NPPs and Atomstroyexport, which executes at present projects on construction of seven nuclear power generating units abroad: in India, Iran, China and Bulgaria. Ministry of Energy, GU Direktsiya stroitelstva NPP, Belenergostroy JSC, Tsentrenergomontazh JSC, RUP BelNIPIEnergoprom, OEIEYaI Sosny, NAN Belorussia and other republic organizations and companies participated on the part of Belorussia. Presidium chairman of Belorussian National Science Academy M.V. Myasnikovich and TPP Chairman of Belorussia V.V.Romanov, who noted importance of nuclear power application for development of economics and country in future, gave a welcoming speech on show opening. M. V. Myasnikovich and accompanying heads of Belorussian institutions reviewed Russian exposition and expressed interest in cooperation with Russia. During the briefing First Vice-president of “Atomstroyexport” JSC A.A. Glukhov answered journalist questions. On the first exhibition day Atomstroyexport stand was visited by many Belorussian specialists, press and public representatives. In Belorussia they are seriously examining plans for construction of the first NPP in the country, which was confirmed by activeness of round-table participants related to “Nuclear power for the Republic of Belorussia” at which representatives of Russian companies spoke. “Atomstroyexport” gave a report about the experience of NPP construction abroad, safety and competitive ability of Russian projects. During the meeting Russian representatives answered questions of Belorussian specialists, informed about long-term home experience in nuclear-power engineering, reliability and efficiency of projects, advanced technologies proposed by Russia when constructing NPP abroad and big export possibilities. Exposition shows that Russia is ready to participate actively in development of Belorussian nuclear-power engineering and according to representatives of both parties it is quite well-timed and useful for strengthening Russian and Belorussian cooperation.
