Power unit 1 of Tianwan NPP in China constructed with Atomstroyexport JSC participation is shut down at present to carry out an outage with partial refueling.

Control of metal of the reactor plant main equipment (reactor pressure vessel, main circulation pipelines, steam generator heat-exchanging tubes), inspection of main coolant pumps, turbine, generator, condenser, high pressure heater and other equipment are carried out during the outage, as well as routine repair works on equipment are performed.
Outage will last till April 16, 2009.
This is already the second outage that is conducted during the guarantee period of operation at Unit 1 with technical assistance of experts of Atomstroyexport JSC and Concern Rosenergoatom JSC. The previous outage with partial refueling was completed successfully in early March 2008.

The General Contract for Tianwan NPP Construction was concluded with Jiangsu Nuclear Power Corporation (JNPC) on the 29th of December 1997. NPP first phase included two power units with VVER-1000 reactor plants of 1000 MW electric capacity each.
Atomstroyexport JSC acted as a general contractor and supplier. Unit 1 was handed over to the Chinese Customer on the 2nd of June, and Unit 2 – on the 12th of September 2007. More than 150 Russian enterprises and companies were involved in the works.
As of today Atomstroyexport JSC is the only company that possesses an actual reference design of new generation NPP. Experts consider Tianwan NPP to be one of the safest ones in the world.
The Principle Agreement on cooperation in construction of two power units of TNPP Extension Project was signed on November 6, 2007 in Moscow in the presence of Heads of governments of Russia and China. The Agreement was signed by Mr. S.I. Shmatko, President, on behalf of Atomstroyexport JSC and by Mr. Jiang Guoyuan, General Manager, on behalf of JNPC.
