State awards were bestowed by Mr. Sergey Kirienko, Director General of the State Atomic Energy Corporation Rosatom, who pointed out that heads of the largest enterprises who had ensured construction of Russian NPP abroad, the first over recent years (Tianwan Nuclear Power Plant in China), were honored with the awards. According to Head of Rosatom this event became the onset of renaissance of the nuclear branch in Russia. “Now we can say that there exists Tianwan NPP, and, therefore, reference units of the new generation, and this is a serious advantage which our competitors do not possess,” Mr. Sergey Kirienko stated. In his reply speech Mr. Evgeny Reshetnikov, Vice-President of ASE JSC, thanked the Government of Russia and SC Rosatom top management for the high honor and pointed out that Tianwan NPP is the best power plant in China, it possesses enhanced safety performances and operates without outage and yields profit. According to Decree of President of RF No. 1375 dated 17.09.2008, ASE JSC employees were awarded for a major contribution to design, construction and start-up of the first phase of Tianwan NPP in China. Grishanov, Deputy Head of ASE JSC Representative Office in China for erection works; Mr. Vladimir S. Zarubaev, Chief engineer of ASE JSC Representative Office in China; Mr. Alexander S. Berezhnoy, Deputy chief engineer of the Chief engineer service of the Division for NPP Construction in China of ASE JSC; Mr. Anatoly M. Bondar, Deputy chief engineer of the Chief engineer service of the Division of NPP Construction in China of ASE JSC; Mr. Rostislav V. Brizhitsky, Consultant of the Division for Quality and Normalization of ASE JSC were awarded with the medals of the Order of Merit for the Fatherland, Class II. Mr. Sergey V. Minakov, Head of Department of the Division for NPP Construction in China of ASE JSC, was awarded with a title of honour “Honoured Power Engineering Expert of the Russian Federation” for the achievements in the domain of power engineering and long-term conscientious work. Reference. The General Contract for Tianwan NPP Construction was concluded with the Jiangsu Nuclear Power Corporation on December 29, 1997. The power plant first phase included two power units with VVER-1000 reactor plants of 1000 MW electric capacity each. Atomstroyexport JSC acted as the General Contractor and supplier. Unit 1 was handed over to the Chinese Customer on the 2nd of June, and Unit 2 – on September 12, 2007. More than 150 Russian companies and enterprises were involved in the works. As of today Atomstroyexport JSC is the only company that has an actual reference design of new generation NPP. Experts consider Tianwan NPP to be one of the safest NPP in the world.
