On 11-12 June, over two thousand residents of Minsk visited Atom Team space organized by Rosatom State Corporation Engineering Division jointly with the Atomic Energy Information Center (AEIC) of Minsk. AIEC employees prepared a program for the guests of Bookids family festival, which lifted the veil over the work of nuclear industry specialists. The space was divided into three thematic zones: science, engineering solutions and creativity. The science zone held master-classes, the engineering solutions zones gave children and adults a chance to play logical games, assemble a chemical element with the help of molecule model kit and build a Da Vinci bridge which can withstand the weight of a grown-up person if assembled correctly. In the creativity zone, the visitors painted atomic Doodles, guessed atomic professions from their description, tried to make out complicated professional terms, could relax in conformable lounge zones and play AEIC intellectual table games: Chronograph and Atomic Makeword. The small stage regularly turned into an improvised dancing ground. The children of all the ages repeated the movements of the Engineer and the Scientists catching their energy. “Nuclear technologies long ago became part of our lives, for this year program we have selected the master-classes which can help the school-children and their parents learn more about the phenomenon of radioactivity, get acquainted with the professions of the nuclear industry and the spheres of application of nuclear technologies”, said Tatiana Schlyk, head of Minsk AEIC. “My family spent plenty of time in the Atom Team space. Most of all, we were impressed by the electricity and lightning master-class. Tesla is, on the one hand, a story from the past, on the other hand, it is a technology of the future,” said Alexander Prischepov, a visitor who came to the Bookids festival with his wife and son. Students from construction teams who manage to participate in the construction of nuclear power plants and share their knowledge about the nuclear industry, helped in organizing the work of the Atom Team space. “I really like working here, because the atmosphere is always positive. You look at the faces of the people who share their energy with you, and you are willing to share your joy with them. Some visitors have no idea what professions there are in the nuclear industry, but we guide them and help them understand more about all these issues. I love working with AEIC because participating in their projects gives me huge experience in organizing events, and I would like to cooperate with AEIC more often because they bring variety into my life. I recommend everybody to visit the events organized by AEIC in Minsk, it is interesting and useful”, said Nikita Bytsun. AEIC of Minsk regularly participates in large city and regional events, AEIC space is always a center of attraction for children and adults.
