On December 14, 2010 at 21:00 (local time) the annual plan of electric-power generation was fulfilled at Tianwan NPP (Lianyungang, the PRC). From early 2010 the nuclear power plant has generated 15 billion kWh. Tianwan NPP was constructed and commissioned by JSC Atomstroyexport, organization of SC ROSATOM.
The first phase of Tianwan NPP comprising two power units was constructed by JSC Atomstroyexport in pursuance of an Intergovernmental Agreement between the RF and the PRC on cooperation in the erection of a NPP in the PRC. Having put into warranty operation the first and the second Units of Tianwan NPP Atomstroyexport became the first among the companies working at the international NPP erection market to construct new generation power units. The two-year warranty operation of the Units completed in 2009.
At the Symposium of the participants of the Tianwan NPP construction, which took place in Lianyungang in September 2010, the Chinese party stated that a record of continuous operation during the first fuel cycle was set up among the nuclear power plants operating in China.

On November 23, 2010 the General Contract on the construction of the second phase of Tianwan NPP (Lianyungang, the PRC) between JSC Atomstroyexport and the Jiangsu Nuclear Power Corporation (JNPC) was signed in St.-Petersburg. Under the General Contract Atomstroyexport JSC shall construct Units 3&4 of Tianwan NPP according to the design similar to that of the first phase: two power units of the Russian design with WWER-1000 reactor plants. JNPC will design and deliver the conventional island equipment.
The signing of the General Contract on the construction of the second phase of Tianwan NPP confirms the high scientific and engineering level of the home nuclear power engineering, experience and competence of the Russian designers and suppliers of the nuclear power equipment. The new phase of cooperation between Russia and China in this field creates a good basis in this area for the consolidation of the leadership position of Atomstroyexport JSC in the NPP construction international competitive market.
