03.12.2010
On November 23, 2010 in St.-Petersburg the General Contract on Tianwan NPS Units 3&4 (Lianyungang, PRC) was signed. The contracting parties are Atomstroyexport JSC, SC Rosatom company, and Jiangsu Nuclear Power Corporation (JNPC). The contract was signed by Dan Belenkiy, President of Atomstroyexport JSC, and Jiang Guoyuan, Director General of JNPC.
Under the General Contract Atomstroyexport JSC will construct Units 3&4 of Tianwan NPS according to the design similar to that of the first phase: two power units of the Russian design with VVER-1000 reactor plants, each of 1060 MW electric capacity. JNPC will design and deliver the balance-of-plant equipment.
Atomstroyexport JSC will acquire unique experience on NPS construction in cooperation with the Chinese supplier of low-speed turbines. The parties have observed that after implementation of the given project the Russian-Chinese cooperation practice will have good replication prospects in third countries.
Signing of the General Contract on Tianwan NPS Units 3&4 confirms a high scientific and technical level of domestic nuclear power engineering, experience and competence of the Russian designers and suppliers of the nuclear power equipment. The new stage of cooperation between Russia and China creates a good basis in this area for strengthening the leading positions of Atomstroyexport JSC in the NPP construction international competitive market.
Information:
On March 23, 2010 in Moscow the Frame Contract was signed between Atomstroyexport JSC and JNPC on construction of Tianwan NPS Second Phase. On September 27, 2010 during the visit of Dmitry Medvedev, President of the Russian Federation, to the Peoples Republic of China the contract was signed for development of Tianwan NPS Second Phase Technical Design. The contract was signed by Dan Belenkiy, President of Atomstroyexport JSC, and Jiang Guoyuan, Director General of JNPC.
Tianwan NPS First Phase consisting of two power units was constructed by Atomstroyexport JSC with the object of implementing the Intergovernmental Agreement between the Russian Federation and the Peoples Republic of China on cooperation in NPS construction in PRC. Upon handing over of Tianwan NPS Unit 1 to the Chinese customer for guarantee operation on June 2, 2007 and Unit 2 – on September 12, 2007 Atomstroyexport JSC turned to be the first company among those working in the NPP construction international market, that had constructed the power units of new generation. In 2009 their two-year guarantee operation was over. Tianwan NPS, constructed according to the advanced Russian design, is the most up-to-date one out of the nuclear power stations in operation in PRC.
At the Simposium of the participants of Tianwan NPS construction, which took place in Lianyungang in September 2010, the Chinese party stated that in the course of Tianwan NPS First Phase operation the all-China record of the most prestigious operational achievement was held in China, i.e. absence of shut-downs of the power units and reactors during the first fuel cycle.
