SIEMENS AG has handed over to Atomstroyexport JSC the technical-commercial offers on the construction of power output facilities of Belene NPP

The handing over by the SIEMENS AG company to Atomstroyexport JSC (ASE JSC), the General Contractor of the construction of Belene NPP, of the technical-commercial offers for the construction of the power output facilities of the Bulgarian NPP took place in Sofia (Bulgaria) on December 8, 2009.
The Belene NPP project comprises the construction of facilities of power output from power units to power transmission lines (PTL) of the Bulgarian grid of 110 kV and 400 kV. For the turnkey construction of these facilities Atomstroyexport JSC is planning to engage SIEMENS AG, a German company with great experience of such works. In 2008 terms of reference for the works performance and the provisions of their realization were agree by SIEMENS AG; technical appendices for contract signing were also documented. In 2009 the basic design materials were prepared.
Technical-commercial offers by SIEMENS AG comprise the German company’s responsibility for designing, supply and mounting of the equipment, performance of pre-commissioning works and commissioning of the power output facilities.

On the project:In 2005 a tender for the construction of Belene NPP, which was won by the Russian company Atomstroyexport, was announced. On January 18, 2008 the signing of the Contract Agreement between Atomstroyexport JSC and the National Electric Company on the Belene NPP construction took place in the presence of the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, and the President of Bulgaria, Georgy Parvanov. The project realized by Atomstroyexport is characterized by high safety level, extended service life of the main equipment, and high utilization factor of the installed capacity.
In 2007 the Russian design was recognized as complying with all the EUR technical requirements to new generation light water reactors. Certification of the design once more demonstrated high level of reliability and safety of the future NPP. The official opening of the Belene NPP site took place on September 3, 2008.
