The works on development of the legal and contractual base for the first Belarusian nuclear power project are carrying on

In Minsk at the initiative of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Belarus the conference between the representatives of Russia and Belorussia concerned with the matter of the Belarusian nuclear power project was held. The Russian delegation was headed by Alexander Lokshin, Deputy General Director on nuclear park of State Corporation “ Rosatom”. JSC “Atomstroyexport” was represented by Alexander Glukhov, First Vice-President of the Company. The representatives of the General Designer of the project, JSC “SPb Atomenergoproject”, JSC “Atomenergomash” and LLC “ALSTOM Atomenergomash” also were the members of the Russian delegation.
At the conference the wording of the draft Agreement between the governments of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus on the cooperation in the nuclear power plant erection on the territory of Belarus has been approved in due course, the matters of the current operations on the project have been discussed. The following stage will be interdepartmental approvals of the draft Agreement in Russia and in Belarus.
The result of the conference has been also signing the Plan of the team-work of the Russian and Belarusian parties on implementation of high priority measures on construction of the NPP project in the Republic of Belarus for the period up to the end of 2009. Within the framework of this Plan in the nearest time on the base of JSC “SPb Atomenergoproject” the conference with the participation of the representatives of the Customer, the general contractor as well as Russian and Belarusian designers will be held. The main issue, that will be discussed at this conference, is the development of justification of the investment in the NPP project in the Republic of Belarus.
Reference:The first nuclear power plant in the Republic of Belarus will be constructed under Russian design “NPP-2006” of JSC “SPb Atomenergoproject” corresponding to all up-to-date international requirements and safety standards. The General contractor of the project will be JSC “Atomstroyexport” (JSC ASE). The projected NPP output is 2,4 thousand MW, the commissioning of the first power unit is planned for 2016, of the second one – in 2018. For the location of the plant Ostrovetskaya site in the Grodna region had been chosen. “Atomstroyexport” will be erecting the NPP on the terms of full responsibility of the general contractor – “turnkey” terms.
