Main Equipment Hot Run Completed at Bushehr NPP

22.07.2010
On July 7, 2010 at Bushehr NPP one of the main commissioning stages – NSSS hot run – was completed. At the given stage testing and verification of availability of the reactor equipment and auxiliary process systems were performed under the design modes.
Taking into account the hot run results, verification and estimation of the primary circuit main equipment condition will be made, and the equipment will be prepared for first criticality of the plant.

Atomstroyexport JSC (ASE JSC) is constructing one power unit of 1000 MW installed electric power at Bushehr NPP on a “turn-key” basis. Bushehr NPP construction was started in 1974 by the German concern Kraftwerk Union A.G. (Siemens/KWU). In 1980 the concern broke the contract with the Iranian customer because of the decision of the German government to join the USA embargo on equipment supplies to Iran. Bushehr NPP is a unique project with no analogues in the world. Atomstroyexport JSC and its subcontractors managed to integrate the Russia-produced equipment into the civil part performed under the German design and to use around 12 thousand tons of the German equipment. The extensive work was done to evaluate condition and availability of the equipment, buildings and structures. Atomenergoproject JSC (Moscow) is the General Designer. The project designers developed and applied a diversity of the original technical ideas and know-how aimed at adaptation of the Russian technologies to the already existing facilities on the site. Bushehr NPP construction is implemented at all stages exclusively under IAEA supervision. Construction of the plant is in full compliance with the valid international norms, legislation, and non-propagation regulations.
