International project for Temelin

19.03.2010
Representatives of the international consortium comprising ?KODA JS a.s., Atomstroyexport JSC and ОАО EDO GIDROPRESS received in Prague the requirements of the Chech power company (CEZ) to the development of the complete tender bid for the construction of Units 3&4 of Temelin NPP. The Consortium offers a European NPP project – MIR-1200 on the basis of the technologies of light-water reactors of the WWER type. The experience of successful operation of NPP with WWER reactors exceeds as of today 1400 reactor-years. Nuclear power plants with reactors of the WWER type built in Czechia, Slovakia, Finland, Hungary and other European countries are safe and economically efficient. The MIR-1200 project conforms to the Customer’s requirements; it possesses process, main equipment and fuel referentiality. It conforms to international norms and IAEA recommendations; it is noted by superior safety parameters and engineering and economic indices. Similar NPP power units on the sites of Leningradskaya NPP-2 and Novovoronezh NPP-2 and Baltiyskaya NPP are already being constructed in Russia. At present negotiations are held on the construction of four power units in Turkey, the project is also offered for realization in Finland.MIR or Modernized International Reactor is simultaneously an NPP project and a cooperation model. It is based on a long-term partnership of the Czech, European and world companies. The tender bid of the Consortium especially emphasizes localization in Czechia of up to 70% of the supply of the equipment, works and services. Even at this stage of qualification selection the Czech-Russian Consortium has enlisted more than 20 major Czech and European companies.ReferenceOn August 3, 2009 CEZ announced a bid for the construction of Units 3&4 on the Temelin NPP site with the possible option of three more units in the countries of Europe. On October 14, 2009 an agreement between three companies - ?KODA JS a.s., Atomstroyexport JSC and EDO GIDROPRESS JSC – on the creation of a joint international consortium was signed. On November 20, 2009 in Prague a Memorandum of Understanding between Atomstroyexport JSC (JSC АSE), Czech and Slovak companies working in the field of construction of nuclear power plants of Russian design with WWER reactors in the territory of Czechia, Russia and third countries, was signed. The text of the Memorandum says, particularly, that: «JSC Atomstroyexport intends to apply to Czech and Slovak companies with requests for supply of equipment or services for new NPP construction projects both in the territory of Russia, and in the territory of third countries anticipating a competitive bid from these companies».?KODA JS a.s. – the today’s ?KODA JS company has been dealing with engineering, equipment manufacture and services for nuclear power engineering for more than fifty years. The ?KODA company was founded in 1859, the start of its work in the field of nuclear power engineering refers to 1956. ?KODA JS ensured supply of engineering, equipment and services for NPPs, research reactors and spent fuel storage facilities in Central and Eastern Europe, Scandinavia, France, Germany, the USA and the Far East. By now ?KODA JS has manufactured and supplied 21 complete reactor of the WWER-440 type and three reactors of the WWER-1000 type. In 1993 privatization of the company took place and ?KODA JADERN? STROJ?RENSTV? was created, in 1998-1999 the present joint-stock company ?KODA JS а.s emerged. Since 2004 the company belongs to the Russian machine-building group OMZ. Despite the general economic crisis in 2009 the number of the company employees grew by 17% amounting to about 1000 men. Atomstroyexport JSC (JSC ASE) is the leading engineering company of the Rosatom State Corporation on the construction of nuclear power engineering facilities abroad. At present Atomstroyexport is the company simultaneously realizing contracts on constructing five nuclear power units abroad (turnkey ones included) and at the same time it is the only company in the field possessing referential new generation NPP units (Tianwan NPP in China.) Atomstroyexport is relying on the semi-centennial experience of the Russian nuclear engineering industry, modern management and innovation technologies, which enables the company to realize equally large-scale and unique projects entrusted to it within the scope of bilateral intergovernmental agreements and also as a result of triumph in open biddings.EDO GIDROPRESS - is the leading company of the Rosatom State Corporation for the creation of reactor plants for NPPs of different purpose, possessing enhanced safety, reliability and efficiency characteristics, competitive in the Russian Federation and abroad. The enterprise possesses more than sixty years of experience of design, calculation-theoretical, experimental-research and production works. The main avenue of activity of EDO GIDROPRESS is the development of designs of reactor plants of the WWER type with great capacity range: from 300 to 1700 МW. At present the company is the only one in the world according to whose designs simultaneously reactor plants for six power units in Russia with reactor plants of the WWER-1000 and WWER-1200types, and also five power units with RP WWER-1000 abroad are being constructed: Kudankulam NPP in India, Bushehr NPP in Iran, Belene NPP in Bulgaria. WWER reactor plants constructed according to designs of EDO GIDROPRESS are working at 18 NPPs in Russia, Ukraine, Armenia, Finland, Bulgaria, Hungary, Czechia, Slovakia and China. These are 23 power units WWER-440 with total capacity of 10120 MW and 28 power units WWER-1000 with total capacity of 28000 MW. Works on the extension of service life of the first generation reactor plants’ equipment, designs for which were also performed by EDO GIDROPRESS, are going on.
