Atomstroyexport has signed the first contract with the Bulgarian manufacturer on large-sized equipment supply to Belene NPP

JSC Atomstroyexport signed a contract with the Bulgarian company BESTTECHNICA TM Radomir AD (АО «БЕСТТЕХНИКА Тяжелое машиностроение Радомир» АД). This is the first contract concluded with the Bulgarian supplier within Belene NPP construction. BESTTECHNICA TM Radomir AD shall have to produce and supply two transport locks for the reactor compartment of two new units of a new Bulgarian nuclear plant. In order to ensure prompt and duly supplies of equipment of long production cycle JSC Atomstroyexport makes contracts with manufacturing plants both in Russia and in Europe. Such activity is carried out with participation of the authorized Bulgarian experts.- The agreement with the Bulgarian side stipulates that about 30% of the whole scope of construction works will be performed by Bulgarian companies, - informed the vice-president of JSC Atomstroyexport – the Head of Division for NPP construction in Bulgaria, Gennadiy Tepkyan.– They will have to work jointly on Belene NPP construction project with the Russian as well as European partners - Siemens, Areva, Nukem, GNS.Traditionally, Bulgaria takes part in cooperation of atomic engineering. BESTTECHNICA TM Radomir AD has more than 25-year experience in production of large-sized equipment including those for the atomic plants. Supplies and services localization during Belene NPP construction will allow to increase production capacities of the Bulgarian companies that will contribute to further development of their technological potential.On the project:In 2005 a tender for Belene NPP construction was announced the winner of which became JSC Atomstroyexport. On January 18, 2008 the contractual agreement on Belene NPP construction was signed between JSC Atomstroyexport and National Electrical Company of Bulgaria. Belene NPP project is featured by high safety level, extended lifetime of the main equipment and high unit capacity factor. In 2007 Russian project WWER NPP-92 successfully went through all stages of the analysis on meeting EUR requirements to NPP with light water reactors of new generation. Belene NPP project is the only Russian project approved by the European Commission. Project certification once again proved a high level of reliability and safety of future power plant. An official opening of the site was held on September 3, 2008.
