Аtomstroyexport as a party of International Consortium MIR.1200 has signed the Agreement on mutual cooperation with Ostrava Technical University

26.04.2011
On the 20th of April, 2011 in Ostrava (Czechia) International Consortium MIR.1200 (composed of Skoda JS a.s., JSC Аtomstroyexport and JSC OKB Gidropress) signed the Agreement on mutual cooperation with the Mining Institute of the Ostrava Technical University (VSB-TUO). The Agreement has been signed within the framework of the technical conference held in Ostrava with the support of the National machine building cluster of Czechia. The purpose of the Agreement is approval of the higher technical education in the field of nuclear engineering industry in the Czech Republic, as well as strengthening of the industrial cooperation between the Czech Republic and Russian Federation.
International Consortium MIR.1200 and the Ostrava Technical University intend to integrate their knowledge, skills and technical resources for training a new generation of experts. In the course of implementation of the Agreement the working groups consisting of representatives of the companies-members of the Consortium and Mining Institute of the Ostrava Technical University will be formed for development of certain directions of joint cooperation.
- An essential condition of the atomic energy development is the combination of the theory and practice, increasing of the scientific potential and solving new practical tasks, Alexander Glukhov, Acting President of JSC Atomstroyexport, considers – Therefore, we believe that the cooperation of the companies, which are the parties of International Consortium MIR.1200, with the Ostrava Technical University is rather fruitful and perspective. Entering into the Agreement, we pursue the aim which is common for us – preparation of competent experts in the field of nuclear energy due to the increase of the Czech nuclear industry demand for the professional personnel.
So, within the limits of the achieved agreements, the students of the Mining Institute of the Ostrava Technical University studying the nuclear engineering industry will be able to receive training and undertake an internship in the companies of International Consortium MIR.1200, receive the required technical knowledge and expert support. In its turn, the rich scientific potential of the Mining Institute of Ostrava Technical University will be used in joint research projects.
- The most effective method of professional development is when it is a continuous one, - Alexander Glukhov considers. - When a student obtaining theoretical knowledge completes it with practice in the enterprise, carries research work on the subject of the future employer, defends his diploma and comes back as an employee to the enterprise, which is already known to him. Thus, solving the problems of increasing personnel potential, I am sure that International Consortium MIR.1200 will promote improvement of quality of the technical education in Czechia. Believe me, it is very important for us, in which hands we are going to deliver the NPPs, that we are currently constructing, in several years!
International Consortium MIR.1200 is now participating in the tender for NPP “Temelin”, Units 3&4 construction. European project MIR.1200 of III + generation is based on the WWER Light Water Reactor technology. The experience of the NPP successful operation with the WWER currently has exceeded 1400 reactor years. The Nuclear Power Plants with WWER reactors constructed in Czechia, Slovakia, Finland, Hungary are safe and cost-effective. Project MIR.1200 meets the requirements of the customer, possesses reference availability of technologies, primary equipment and fuel. It complies with the international norms and IAEA recommendations, differs in its increased safety characteristics and technical and economic indices.
Besides, Consortium MIR.1200 is the first from the participants of the tender, who has offered to the Czech companies an essential share of works on completion of NPP “Temelin” and an actual participation in the projects in the third countries: special attention has been paid to the localization warranty for 70 % of deliveries of the equipment, works and services in the Czech enterprises. This offer is practical, as it is based on the experience of the similar model of the Czech-Russian cooperation in the sphere of nuclear energy projects, within the framework of which two operating NPPs in Czechia have been constructed: NPP «Dukovany» and the first stage of NPP «Temelin». The dominant share of deliveries of the equipment, works and services, within the limits of the above projects, has been made from the Czech Republic. This model of cooperation has currently formed the basis of MIR.1200 project as well.

The tender for completion of NPP “Temelin”, Unite 3& 4 construction with a probable option for three more units in the countries of Europe was announced on the 3rd of August, 2009. On the 14th of October, 2009 the tripartite Agreement on establishment of International Consortium consisting of Skoda JS a.s., JSC Аtomstroyexport and JSC OKB Gidropress was signed. On the 20th of November, 2009 the Memorandum of mutual understanding between JSC Аtomstroyexport, Czech and Slovak companies in the field of Russian-designed nuclear power plant construction with WWER reactors in the territory of Czechia, Russia and in the third countries was signed in Prague.
At present time the international team of Consortium MIR.1200 is carrying out an active work on certain sections of the joint offer. The groups of experts are working on the specification of all the aspects of the international project proceeding from the wide experience of NPP construction, summarizing the knowledge obtained in construction of the reference nuclear power stations in China (Tianwan NPS) and in the Leningrad region (the Leningrad NPP-2).
