Atomstroyexport JSC participates in the III International Nuclear Energy Exhibition and Conference "India Nuclear Energy 2011"

On September 29 October 1, the III International Nuclear Energy Exhibition and Conference “India Nuclear Energy 2011 is held at Mumbai (India). Atomstroyexport JSC participates in the exhibition as an integral part of SC Rosatom; exposition. At present, the Exhibition India Nuclear Energy is one of the central events relating to the nuclear energy development not only in India, but also in the whole region. The event is organized with the assistance of Department of Atomic Energy Government of India, the Indian nuclear Society, the Indian Atomic Energy Commission Government of India and supported by various international organizations and companies. Srikumar Banerjee, Chairman of the Atomic Energy Commission, Government of India, delivered a welcoming speech at the opening ceremony. After the official part he saw round the exhibition, attended the exposition of SC Rosatom” companies including Atomstroyexport JSC stand, which represented the information about the project Kudankulam NPP: the first power unit completion and preparation for the construction of the second one. The information presented also covered company strategy and its contribution to the promotion of Russian advanced technologies in nuclear energy in the world market. In the coarse of the first days the Atomstoyexport JSC stand was attended by a great number of Indian and international experts, engineers, representatives of nuclear energy industry and also by public members who at present pay special attention to the nuclear energy development in the country. Russian exposition also attracted experts from other participating countries (France and the USA). Traditionally, such questions as the results of Atomstroyexport JSC activity (particularly Kudankulam NPP construction), possibilities for cooperation in construction of nuclear power objects and specific technological features of Russian projects were of a particular interest. Within the framework of the meetings held as part of the Exhibition India Nuclear Energy 2011 special characteristics of NPP-92 project applicable at Kudankulam NPP are discussed with a special focus on the safety matters. The project meets Russian and IAEA standards and has been certificated according to EUR requirements for NPP constructed after 2000. The project fundamental characteristic is implementation of passive safety system in addition to the traditional active one, which according to common criteria advances the Indian project, notably its safety aspect to the 4th generation projects.
