On 25th April 2012 JSC NIAEP holds public consultations on the company’s 2011 annual report draft

Representatives of stakeholders – shareholders, partners, suppliers, counterparts, authority, higher educational institutions, the staff, the media and the public – have been invited to take part in the public consultations.The aim is to achieve with the stakeholders a common understanding of the company’s performance, to answer the requests made during the discussions held earlier, to clarify the goals and the general position of the company on relevant issues and also to provide for verification and audit of the company’s report.The public consultations in JSC NIAEP take the form of open discussions on the company’s 2011 report draft with such priority lines as “Development of NIAEP competencies” and “NPP safety”.NIAEP’s first deputy director in economy, chairman of the public reporting committee, Vladimir Katz reported to the audience on the key results of the company’s performance in 2011, focusing in detail on NIAEP sustainable development. For NIAEP the year 2011 is marked with commissioning of Kalinin NPP-4 and its 60th anniversary and also with drastic changes in terms of the scale and geography of the company’s operations due to consolidation with Atomstroyexport (ASE). The number of projects being executed by NIAEP and ASE has increased to 20 covering the projects both in Russia and abroad. In addition to the Kalinin and Rostov NPP construction projects, others include Baltic and Nizhny Novgorod NPP projects and projects carried out in Belarus, India, Turkey, China and other countries.“The consolidation of the companies has led to an increase in staff: today over 4 000 employers work in NIAEP-ASE, and totaling in over 7000 people if the staff of the subsidiaries is taken into account. Our organizational structure has changed, for instance, a Moscow branch has been established to manage NPP construction abroad”, commented Vladimir Katz.Vladimir Katz presented NIAEP’s public position on the sustainable development elaborated in 2011 on the basis of the company’s values. The key principles are safety and quality, personnel development, innovation, contribution into the economic development of regions, social responsibility, environmental protection and stable interaction with the stakeholders.On each principle Vladimir Katz presented the company’s plans and obligations.Nickolay Podorov, head of NIAEP’s financial and economical department, reported on the results of cooperation with the stakeholders on preparation of the 2011 annual report. During the preparation process the stakeholders have made 22 comments and suggestions, all of which have been taken into account. The structure of the report has been supplemented with a section titled as “NIAEP business-model”.During the consultations the participants have also made a number of comments and proposals. Vyacheslav Egounov,deputy director of Research Institute of Mechanics (Lobachevsky State University of Nizhny Novgorod), has proposed to complement the section “Safety and quality” with the NPP equipment service life extension issue underlining its relevance and importance. Pavel Mironov, head of the ecology and environmental management committee of the legislative assembly of the Nizhny Novgorod region, mentioned the company’s readiness to discuss safety-related issues of the projects under construction and proposed to organize a tour for the members to one of the construction sites.By and large the participants of the consultations have estimated highly the company’s 2011 annual report draft. Edouard Frolov, deputy director of “OKBM Afrikantov”, notes that NIAEP is demonstrating once more its openness and transparency achieving a new public reporting level meeting the international standards.For your information: The 2011 report will be the fourth annual report of NIAEP collecting the company’s performance financial and non-financial results. The authenticity of the data presented in the report is verified not only by the public but also by a third party audit of the non-financial reporting. NIAEP’s 2009 and 2010 reports top the rankings in the nuclear reporting.

The merged company JSC NIAEP – JSC Atomstroyexport (ASE) was established in March 2012 by the resolution of the State atomic energy corporation Rosatom. Thus, NIAEP has become a holding company JSC ASE.
