Powering of 6 kW SCG (switchgear and control gear) for own needs of the Yuzhnouralsk GRES-2 (SDPP) Power Unit 1 was made on the 5th of December, 2012 after appropriate authorization had been got from authorities of the Ural Rostechnadzor Management Board on the Chelyabinsk area. Pavel Hudiakov, Operations Deputy Director of the South Ural Branch of JSC NIAEP - The Management Company of JSC Atomstroyexport (JSC ASE), made a statement on the event. «The powering of the own needs speaks for the certain stage of the power unit ready, - emphasized P.Hudiakov. - Besides, the own needs powering start-up within the design mode allows going into commissioning and start-up works towards power facilities in the main building of the power unit. The basic power equipment of the main building is made by Siemens Co. and consists of generator, gas and steam turbine».
The first start-up complex of the Yuzhnouralsk GRES-2 includes 74 facilities. For construction of the power unit 1 more than 1500 proficients are engaged from 7 basic contracting and 32 subcontracting entities.
Recall that in 2009 JSC ASE swept a free-for all tender and got the general contract for construction of power unit 1 of the Yuzhnouralsk GRES- 2. In October 16, 2009 JSC AES and JSC «Third Generating Company of the Power Wholesale Market» signed an agreement on EPC-model based power complex of the Yuzhnouralsk GRES-2. According to the technical solution of the Customer, the power complex of the Yuzhnouralsk GRES - 2 should be a combined condensation and cycle electric generating plant with three power units of 1200 MW total capacity (3 x 400 MW) with additional facilities and communications. The plant is under construction at 5 km from the operating Yuzhnouralsk GRES site.
In February, 2012 JSC ASE won a tender for construction of power units 2 and 3 of the Yuzhnouralsk GRES-2. The general contract package deal to perform works on construction of power units 2 and 3 of the «Yuzhnouralsk GRESS-2 Power Complex» was signed in May 14, 2012 by Valery Limarenko, Director of the merged NIAEP-ASE and Boris Kovalchuk - Chairman of Management Board of JSC «Inter RAO EES».
