Kalinin NPP – 4 is the major project in the Russian nuclear industry in 2011: its power program was started in November. The participants of the photography exhibition, Arkady Soukhonin and Ivan Sheshokin, work in the public relation and information policy department in NIAEP, the general contractor in Kalinin – 4 construction project. During several years they took pictures, capturing the essential events and routine life of the construction site, then sorted out the archive and found the beginnings. This work resulted in a photography exhibition, where the employees of the company in Nizhny Novgorod and Udomlya, who designed and constructed the plant, were first visitors. Now the works are on display in the atomic energy information center, attended daily by dozens of pupils, students and teachers. Pupils of school N 38 and cadets of Nizhny Novgorod river transport school attended the meeting with the photographers. After a tour of the exhibition they asked Arkady Soukhonin and Ivan Sheshokin about the people and things, featured in the photographs. Old-aged retired workers of JSC NIAEP helped the photographers to answer specifically technical questions. At the end the participants of the meeting watched a documentary “Kalinin-4. History of our Time”, produced by the television group of KNPP public information center. It was the first run outside Udomlya. “Kalinin-4 project is a little bit of inspiration, miracle and luck and lots of skill, labor and effort. During several years the creators of the film collected the video material, working side by side with builders, day and night, in hot and cold, recording, through the camera lens, the most significant events on the construction site. As a result, a documentary appeared narrating about the difficult years of construction activities and solemn commissioning moments”, says the annotation for the twenty-minute film. The film turned out to be really fascinating which was proved by the applause of the first viewers. Soon the winners of the Pozdyshev scholarship program, founded by JSC NIAEP, will watch the film.
