Representatives of stakeholders (shareholders, partners, suppliers, authority, representatives of higher educational establishments, the personnel and the public) participated in the dialogue. The purpose was to hear the requests and proposals of colleagues, partners, authority and the local public concerning the information presented in the report. Development of NIAEP competencies and safety of nuclear power plants are topics of priority in the 2011 report. Opening the dialogue, titled “Development of competencies”, Vladimir Katz, NIAEP first deputy director on economy and chairman of the public reporting committee, stated that “the topic is relevant for our company as well as for State corporation Rosatom that is why priority has been attached to it in the 2011 report. Development of competencies is related, in the first place, to consolidation of two companies, namely, NIAEP, leader in the Russian engineering and innovative technologies, and Atomstroyexport (ASE), Russian provider of NPP construction services for overseas. The management of the state corporation Rosatom adopted this decision in November 2011. The consolidation of the two companies will produce a synergetic effect and will enhance their competitiveness. The companies are working now on 20 projects implemented both in Russia and abroad. Today, over 7 000 people work in the company. Valery Zorya, head of the innovative design and development department, picked up the topic and told of the company’s development prospects and of the innovative technologies – Multi-D technology for life cycle management of complex projects, contributing to competitiveness of the company in the foreign markets. The issues of creation of a procurement system based on one platform and innovation in information and design technologies were also raised in the course of the dialogue. Alexander Kuznetsov, deputy chief engineer, presented seven main projects including the NPP life cycle management system applied for the VVER TOI project, the NPP materials and resources database, the electronic document workflow with application of digital signing etc. In its 2011 public report the company proved once more that its priority is to ensure nuclear and radiation safety of the nuclear facilities designed and constructed by NIAEP. Alexander Yashkin, head of comprehensive design bureau N 1, reported on the company’s plans to enhance safety level in the new project VVER TOI. As the state corporation Rosatom has decided on adopting the VVER TOI project for Nizhny Novgorod NPP construction site, Aleksey Sedov, project manager and deputy head of the projects economic department, spoke of safety of the construction site selected for Nizhny Novgorod NPP. RF government adopted the decision to build the plant in November 2011. Aleksey Sedov said that “Leading research organizations of Russia and Nizhny Novgorod Region, specializing in karsts and erosion, conducted a number of surveys of the karsts on the Nizhny Novgorod NPP construction site in 2009-2011 which had never been conducted before as far as the amount and methods are concerned. The performed works allow to make the conclusion that karsts will not grow under the selected site”. To complete the topic of safety Svetlana Fateeva, head of the quality management department, spoke of the company’s quality management activities. In June 2011 TUV SUD Management Service GmbH conducted an audit in NIAEP and confirmed that the quality management system met the requirements of the international standard ISO 9001:2008. Representatives of the nuclear industry (the state corporation Rosatom, OKBM Afrikantov, Moscow Atomenergoproekt), administrations of the territories, involved in the company’s operations, associated universities and public organizations actively discussed the proposed topics. During the discussion a number of requests were made concerning the content of the report and further work of the company. For instance, Alan Khasiev, chairman of the interregional and ecological movement “Oka” highlighted such important aspects as establishing a positive image of the nuclear power engineering and outreach educational activities conducted by the company on the territories involved in its operations. Summing up the hearings Vladimir Kats stated that the company’s report would be more complete thanks to the participation of the stakeholders and their comments. “We are aspiring to make our report meet the requirements of A+ level of the global reporting initiative which means disclosure for 66 indicators”, Vladimir Katz said.
