The project of Nizhny Novgorod engineering company Atomenergoproekt (NIAEP) “Multi-D – complex project life cycle management” wins the “Innovation in the nuclear industry” nomination in the contest “Innovation in Region – 2011”. The awarding ceremony took place on 21st March, 2012. 25 leading regional companies took part in the competition. The judges, headed by Valery Shantsev, Governor of Nizhny Nogorod region, assessed projects following four criteria (economical benefits from realization, value of the innovation for customers, scale and realization stage of the innovation) and determined winners in 6 nominations. NIAEP presented to the judges a nuclear power plant life cycle management project covering the following stages: NPP designing, construction, operation and decommissioning. This system unites all the project participants (designers, builders and operators) into one information environment and enables their interaction, early detection of different errors and inconsistencies, reduces costs and facilitates information transfer from one stage to another. “The system is constantly developing and improving and we are sure that in future it will allow NIAEP to reduce significantly the time and cost of NPP construction preserving the highest safety level”, said Aleksey Agafonov, one of the developers of the system, head of CAD integration platform laboratory, NIAEP, when receiving the award. The competition “Innovation in Region” is annually held in Nizhny Nogorod region to enhance innovation in the regional economy and to attract the attention of potential investors and customers to the projects implemented by the enterprises of Nizhny Nogorod. The project is organized by the media holding “Innovatika TV” under the auspices of the government of Nizhny Nogorod region and the USA-Russia business center.

The both companies are working on 20 projects being implemented simultaneously in Russia and abroad. The company is using advanced software products for nuclear power plant engineering. Since 2002 a 3-D model has been applied in NPP engineering. A quality management system was introduced in the company complying with the requirements of the international standards. It was successfully certified in the TUV SUD international center.
