NIAEP takes part in the International expo and conference “ATOMEXPO-BELARUS-2012”

On 21st- 23d March, 2012, the IV International expo and conference “Atomexpo-Belarus-2012” was held in Minsk (Republic of Belarus). The event is arranged together with Russian partners under the auspices of state corporation “Rosatom”. The main goals of the event are to demonstrate the leading edge technologies for NPP designing, construction, operation and safety assurance, to encourage nuclear research in Belarus and to contribute to creation of a nuclear personnel training system in the republic. Speaking at the official opening of the forum Valery Limarenko, NIAEP director and ASE acting president, greeted all the participants on behalf of Russian nuclear specialists. “Yesterday a significant event took place – the control panel, responsible for NPP construction on Atroviec site in the Hrodna Province, met for the first time, Limarenko said. “Today at the research and practice conference a seminar will be held for the Belorussian construction complex, prospective suppliers of equipment and materials to NPP site. The basic requirements for participation in NPP construction will be presented at the seminar. We are interested to have as many Belorussian participants in the project as possible”. On March 21st a research and practice conference is held at the expo. The conference titled as “Nuclear Energy Development Prospects in Republic of Belarus” is dedicated to the state policy in the nuclear energy area and energy security assurance. Separate meetings are arranged to discuss the following topics: NPP designing and construction, the potential of Belorussian organizations for participation in NPP designing and construction, NPP construction project management, nuclear machine building, instruments and equipment for NPP construction, safe operation, creation of nuclear regulatory and legal base, nuclear licensing and nuclear personnel training. NIAEP specialists will present a localization plan for equipment and materials for the construction site, the nuclear material and resource database and also the cutting-edge engineering and construction technologies employed for complex construction projects. Nearly 50 enterprises and organizations are taking part in the expo and conference “Atomexpo-Belarus-2012”, including a stand of Ministry of Energy of Republic of Belarus, expositions of Ministry of Industry and State Committee of Science and Technology, Ministry of natural resources and environmental protection, Ministry of emergencies, enterprises of the state military and industrial committee, Ministry of architecture and construction, Belenergo, etc. 14 Russian nuclear enterprises also showed their expositions.

The both companies are working on 20 projects being implemented simultaneously in Russia and abroad. The company is using advanced software products for nuclear power plant engineering. Since 2002 a 3-D model has been applied in NPP engineering. A quality management system was introduced in the company complying with the requirements of the international standards. It was successfully certified in the TUV SUD international center.
