03.05.2012
On 18th -22nd April, as part of a delegation of the Nizhny Novgorod region the Nizhny Novgorod engineering company “Atomenergoproekt” (JSC NIAEP) participated in the 40th Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva (Switzerland). The company exhibited a useful model patent named as “Steel Rope Bundle” that was awarded a gold medal and a certificate at the exhibition.“This invention was used in construction of Kalinin power unit N 4 when for the first time in Russia we applied a modernized containment pre-stressing system, – says Victor Ostapovich, head of production system development and labor safety department in NIAEP, - As a result, a record has been achieved in the nuclear industry – pre-stressing works were completed in 4 months (it took 2 years at Finland NPP, 1,5 year – in India). This system ensures leak tightness under any leak of coolant accidents and protects the nuclear power plant and the reactor against external impacts. The system represents bundles made of 46 steel ropes. The containment of a nuclear power plant requires 132 bundles. JSC NIAEP applied its own technology consisting in simultaneous laying of 46 steel ropes. The developed plan allowed to reduce pre-stress works manifold”. According to French experts, developers of pre-stressing systems, the works performed in KNPP-4 construction project meet all the international standards. So the invention of NIAEP specialists has been recognized internationally by inventors. The 40th International exhibition of inventions was held in Palexpo. With 46 countries, represented by 789 exhibitors and 63 925 people having gone through the doors of Palexpo, this anniversary edition is breaking all records. China exhibited the biggest number of innovations, then comes Russia. The event was organized under the patronage of the Swiss Federal Government, the State, the City of Geneva and of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) which headquarters is located in Geneva.
