The Baltic NPP: Summed up work performance in October and drawn up plans till the end of the year

On 30 th October 2012 the control panel in charge for the Baltic NPP Unit 1&2 construction ( Neman area, Kalingrad region) met.
Chaired by Valery Limarenko, Director of JSC NIAEP, executor of JSC Atomstroyexport, representatives of JSC Concern Rosenergoatom (Customer), JSC SPbAEP (General Designer) and those of contracting organizations took part in the meeting.
Before the meeting started the participants viewed the construction site and the units being built.
Vyacheslav Makhonin, First Deputy Director- Director of JSC NIAEP Baltic branch delivered a report on the BNPP Unit 1&2 construction. « Presently , 20 main buildings and 26 temporary title facilities are under construction . 17 contracting organizations are working on the two units . Over 1300 workers were involved in the construction in October, i.e. by 100 people more than in September. Yet , there is deficiency in workforce, and we plan that the manpower will have increased to 2000 by the end of the year », - marked V.M.Makhonin.
A corium trap for Unit 1 will be delivered to the Baltic NPP construction site.
The contracting organizations were assumed with new tasks, discussion of activities essential for meeting the schedule 2012 also took place at the meeting.
In the words of V . M . Makhonin , to meet the schedule and to provide for the works in the first half of the year 2013 with regard to the scope of CEW it is necessary to issue the missing design documentation and increase the workforce. One of the Production system programs of Rosatom (PSR) - labour safety system is being implemented on the site. Four meeting devoted to safe work execution on the site were held within the month.

Construction of the Baltic NPP is being implemented within the Cooperation Agreement between the State Corporation Rosatom and the Government of Kalingrad Region , and the Declaration of Intent on the Baltic NPP investment project, confirmed by Rosatom and approved by the Kalningrad regional Duma.
On 25, September 2009 Chairman of the Russian Government Vladimir Putin signed a Decree on construction of Baltic Nuclear Power Station on the territory of Kalingrad Region, consisting of two units of overall capacity 2300 MW. The commission term of Unit 1 is 2016 year, Unit 2 -2018. On 25 th September 2010 Sergey Ivanov, Vice Prime Minister, and Sergey Kirienko, Head of Rosatom, took part in the official ceremony of laying the foundation stone of the power plant.. It was the kickoff for pre-construction works . In 2011 the NPP construction was licensed by Rostechnadzor. General contractor of NPP construction is NIAEP, and customer – JSC “ Concern Rosenergoatom”.

The merged company JSC NIAEP – JSC Atomstroyexport (ASE) was established in March 2012 by the resolution of the State atomic energy corporation Rosatom. Thus, NIAEP has become a holding company JSC ASE.
