The Baltic NPP: Meeting of the Plant Unit 1&2 Construction Control Panel

On 6 th , September 2012 the control panel in charge for Baltic NPP Unit1&2 construction (Neman Area, Kaliningrad Region) met.
Chaired by Valery Limarenko , Director of JSC NIAEP -JSC Atomstroyexport , the following representatives participated in the meeting: JSC“Concern Rosenergoatom” (Customer), JSC NIAEP (General Contractor), JSC SPbAEP (General Designer) and contracting organizations.
Before the meeting started the participants viewed the construction site and discussed the facilities being built. Vyacheslav Makhonin, First Deputy Director- Director of the Baltic branch of JSC NIAEP reported on the construction works progress of BNPP Unit 1&2. «Currently 20 main buildings facilities and 26 temporary title facilities are under construction. The works at the both Units are executed by 16 contracting organizations. More than 1000 people were working at the site in August, the figure is to increase up to 1500 by September»- said Vyacheslav Makhonin.
In August at Unit1 erection of vertical casing of the foundation plate reactor compartment was performed at elevations -8,730 and -7,500.It is planned to complete the foundation ditch for the nuclear island.
In the words of Makhonin to meet the schedule for the current year on construction and mounting work amounts it is necessary to facilities and issue missing documentation into production and increase the manpower. One of the programs of the Producti on System of Rosatom (PSR) – Labour Safety Management System is being implemented. 5 meetings on safe work execution were held this month.

Construction of the Baltic NPP is being implemented within the Cooperation Agreement between the State Corporation Rosatom and the Government of Kalingrad Region , and the Declaration of Intent on the Baltic NPP investment project, confirmed by Rosatom and approved by the Kalningrad regional Duma.
On 25, September 2009 Chairman of the Russian Government Vladimir Putin signed a Decree on construction of Baltic Nuclear Power Station on the territory of Kalingrad Region, consisting of two units of overall capacity 2300 MW. The commission term of Unit 1 is 2016 year, Unit 2 -2018. On 25 th September 2010 Sergey Ivanov, Vice Prime Minister, and Sergey Kirienko, Head of Rosatom, took part in the official ceremony of laying the foundation stone of the power plant.. It was the kickoff for pre-construction works . In 2011 the NPP construction was licensed by Rostechnadzor. General contractor of NPP construction is NIAEP, and customer – JSC “ Concern Rosenergoatom”.

The merged company JSC NIAEP – JSC Atomstroyexport (ASE) was established in March 2012 by the resolution of the State atomic energy corporation Rosatom. Thus, NIAEP has become a holding company JSC ASE.
