On 22 nd January 2013 construction control panel's meeting on the Baltic NPP power units 1 and 2 (Nemansky district, Kaliningrad region) was held.
Representatives of JSC “Concern “Rosenergoatom” (Customer), JSC “NIAEP” (General Contractor), JSC “SPbAEP” (General Designer) and contract organizations attended the meeting presided over by the Director of JSC “NIAEP” Valery Limarenko.
Prior to beginning of the meeting the participants made the round of the construction site during which several objects under construction.
Vyacheslav Makhonin, Director of the Baltic NPP construction, made a report on the results of 2012. Summing up the results of 2012 he noted, that all the planned control activities had been performed, in particular, on 29 th December the casing of molten-core catcher was erected at the site of power-generating unit 1.
“At the present time 25 basic buildings and structures and 26 temporary ones are under construction. Twenty contractors are engaged in works at the sites of two power-generating units. 1500 workers work at the sites”, informed V.M.Mahonin
Control activities on power-generating unit 1 for the period of 2013 were approved in course of the control panel's meeting. The first objective for January is reinforcement of safety building walls from elevation – 8, 800 up to – 4,100.
“It was the first year of NIAEP activity as the general contractor at the Baltic NPP construction site. All the planned control activities had been performed, - Valery Limarenko summed up, - I hope that during the present year we shall continue stably teamwork”.

Construction of the Baltic NPP Project is stipulated in the Cooperation Agreement between the State Corporation “Rosatom” and the government of the Kaliningrad Oblast, as well as in Declaration of intent on Baltic NPP investment project authorized by Rosatom and approved by the Duma of the Kaliningrad Oblast. The document that launched the project was the Directive on construction of Baltic NPP two power units on the Kaliningrad Oblast territory signed by Putin, Chairman of the RF Government, on 25th September 2009. Sergey Ivanov, the Vice Prime Minister, and Sergey Kirienko, Head of Rosatom, took part in the official ceremony of laying the foundation stone of the power plant on 25th February 2010. It was the kickoff for pre-construction works.
In 2011 Rostehnadzor licence for NPP construction was granted. JSC NIAEP is appointed as the General Contractor. The Customer is JSC “Concern “Rosenergoatom”.

The merged company JSC NIAEP – JSC Atomstroyexport (ASE) was established in March 2012 by the resolution of the State Atomic Energy Corporation Rosatom. Thus, NIAEP has become a holding company JSC ASE.
