27.09.2013
On 27 th September an official ceremony of the first concrete placement in the foundation of the Nuclear Island of TNPP unit 4 was held in Lianyungang City, People's Republic of China. This event is the beginning of construction works at the TNNP unit 4 site.
At the ceremony on behalf of the Chinese Customer there were SUN Qin, chairman of the board, China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC), Chen Hua, director general of Chinese national nuclear power, chairman of the board of Jiangsu Nuclear Power Corporation(JNPC) and Xue-Jian, director general of JNPC.
The delegation of the general contractor of the nuclear islands of TNPP units 3 and 4 - NIAEP-ASE – was represented by NIAEP president Valery Limarenko and vice-president of East and South-East Asia projects Yury Ivanov.
First concrete operation took place one month ahead of the schedule due to good teamwork of Russian and Chinese parties and timely supply of necessary equipment.
At the official ceremony Valery Limarenko noted, “Our labor festivities are taking place at one of the most beautiful construction sites. Last December concreting works were started at the unit 3 site. Today, concreting works are underway at the unit 4 construction site outrunning the schedule. Thanks to high professionalism of Chinese builders and effective cooperation of Russian and Chinese specialists TNNP-2 construction work is going successfully. The first plant, built as per Russian design, is operating steadily: it is one of the most efficient and safest plants in China.
We hope that our cooperation will continue and that we will build the third phase of TNNP together”.
After the “first concrete” ceremony the Chinese and Russian delegation walked down the construction site of the power units 3 and 4.
For reference:
TNPP is the biggest project in economic cooperation between People's Republic of China and Russian Federation .
In accordance with the Russian – Chinese intergovernmental agreement, signed in 1992, JSC ASE was in charge of Tianwan NPP 1&2 construction project.
In 2007 the first two power units of TNPP (power units 1 and 2 with reactors VVER-1000 of capacity 1060 MW) were handed over to the Customer (state corporation JNPC) for warranty operation and in September 2009 – for commercial operation. The operational experience of the TNNP first phase showed stable performance of the power units at the rated power enabling to achieve in 2012 the annual plant capacity factor of units 1 and 2 equal to 86,714 % and 87,713 % respectively.
On 23 rd November 2010 JSC Atomstroyexport and the Chinese companies JNPC, CNPE and CNEIC signed a general contract for construction of Tianwan NPP second phase (power units 3&4, VVER-1000,1060 MW per unit), effected in August 2011.
The Russian party's responsibility includes design and supply of nuclear island equipment of the units and also coordination and licensing within the designing scope of the Russian party.
On 26 th December 2012 National Nuclear Safety Administration of China (NNSA) issued a construction license for units 3 and 4.
On 27 th December 2012, strictly according to the construction schedule of the TNPP second phase, the first key event took place – first concreting of the foundation of the unit 3 nuclear island.
On 27 th September 2013 first concreting of the foundation of the unit 4 nuclear island took place.
Commercial operation of the TNNP second phase is scheduled for 2018: power unit № 3 – February 2018; power unit № 4 – December 2018.
