12.05.2014
This was reported on 7th May at the meeting of the construction control panel dedicated to construction of power units 3 and 4.
“Works in the reactor compartment of power unit No 3 are carried out at a fast pace. At present, assembly of the reactor is taking place which will be completed in early June according to the plan, - noted Alexander Khazin, Director for construction of Rostov NPP. – All the internals - barrel, reflection shield and protective tube unit - will be put into the reactor. After the assembly is completed, hydraulic testing and circulation flushing may be started to test the strength and tightness of the primary and secondary process systems. It’s one of the most important sub-stages of pre-commissioning carried out before hot operational testing”.

Besides, the results were reviewed at the meeting and plans of works for power unit 4 were outlined. At present, the supporting truss has been put in its proper place, in May blast shields of the reactor vault will be erected. At present, almost 6500 people are working at the site of power units 3 and 4.

“Power unit No 3 is to be commissioned this year. We have entered the final straight and intense work awaits all our team, - summarized Valery Limarenko, president of JSC NIAEP – JSC ASE – The situation at the site is not simple and requires responsibility and coordination of actions from all and everyone, and if so, all the tasks set before us will be successfully dealt with. I am sure that the power unit will be commissioned on schedule”.
Rostov NPP is a branch of Group Company Rosenergoatom. The plant is located on the bank of Tsimlyanskoye storage lake 13,5 km from Volgodonsk. Two power units with VVER-1000 reactors of installed capacity 1000 MW are in operation at the plant. Power unit № 1 was commissioned in 2001, power unit №2 – in December 2010. Power units 3 and 4 are now under construction. Detailed and latest information on the radiation situation around the NPP of Russia and other nuclear facilities may be found at www.russianatom.ru.
