The official ceremony marking the commissioning of the power unit took place on 24 November 2014. The ceremony was attended by President of the United Company NIAEP– ASE Valery Limarenko, Chairman of the Board of Directors of JSC Inter RAO Boris Kovalchuk and representatives of the organs of regional power.
Valery Limarenko, President of NIAEP– ASE United Company, pointed out that power unit No 2 of Yuzhnouralskaya GRES is a facility the construction of which was implemented within the framework of business diversification strategy.
“The full commissioning of Yuzhnouralskaya GRES-2 has confirmed the soundness of our strategy aimed at the introduction of innovative technologies, not only in the nuclear field but also in the construction of other complex engineering facilities. Today we underline that we have constructed the power unit cheaper, faster and with proper quality. This is what engineering means. It is very important that nowadays, in challenging times, we can celebrate a victory in the real sector of Russia’s economy. This is what diversification means for us, it is a novelty, and we would like to thank our customer for it”, President of United Company NIAEP JSC– Atomstroyexport JSC emphasized during the launching ceremony of the power unit.
Specialists of the United Company implementing the Yuzhnouralskaya GRES project have applied a unique project management system for complex engineering facilities construction- Multi-D. The Multi-D technology is based on optimization of civil and erection works using a three-dimensional model.
Yuzhnouralskaya GRES-2 comprises two combined cycle power units of guaranteed capacity not less than 400 MW each. The main equipment includes two Siemens SGT5-4000F gas turbines, two П-140 recovery boilers manufactured by Atomenergomash JSC and two Siemens SST-3000 steam turbines. The construction project is managed by Inter RAO Engineering.
